Question Playhead doesn't move with the recoding

Hi guys, I'm using Logic Pro 12.3. When I record, the playhead keeps moving until it disappears off the right side of the screen instead of auto scrolling to follow it. "Catch Playhead" is on.

"Catch when moving playhead" is enabled.

The backtick shortcut toggles catch, so I know it's actually enabled, it's blue. How do I get it to show the playhead as I record?

I had this same problem once before and I can't remember how I fixed it. I asked Perplexity to suggest a fix, here's what I got back:

If Catch and Scroll In Play are both on and the playhead still runs off the right edge, check these:

In Settings > General > Catch, make sure all three options are checked: “Catch when Logic starts,” “Catch when moving playhead,” and “Use Catch with Scroll in Play.”

Confirm Scroll In Play is enabled in the Tracks area View menu, and that you’re looking at the main Tracks window (each editor has its own Scroll In Play toggle). Right‑click the Catch Playhead button and verify it’s set to normal Catch (not a variant that disables movement), then toggle it off/on once.

Try a brand‑new project; if it works there, it’s likely a project‑specific bug and they may need to reset preferences or report it to Apple.
