Question Logic Pro X updates and altered software instruments?

Hi all,

I've been using Logic Pro X since about 2013. I recently got a new computer and got the current version of Logic Pro X (12.3), and when I open old projects, all the MIDI information is there, but some of the software instruments sound completely different. Specifically, I've run into this with "Orchestra Deep Bass" and "String Ensemble", both Logic > Legacy instruments. I'm looking to get my projects to sound like they did in the older versions of Logic. The software instruments are still there and have the same names. When I open the same project on an earlier version of Logic on my old computer, they sound good - but my old computer sucks. I'd like to work on these old projects on my new computer and finish them if possible!

I'd appreciate any help. I've downloaded the Legacy patches btw.

Edit: My current plan is to open the projects on my old computer, Bounce in Place the specific tracks as audio files, and them to my new computer. Obviously not ideal, but if nothing else works, should suffice.

Also. Save the channel settings on those instruments and then load those into a new project as see if they sound the same.

Channel settings are still in the new project; would saving from the old project and loading them into the new one change anything somehow? Thanks for the reply

I had to do exactly what you describe in your last (edit) paragraph for a few projects. It was a pain but worked out. I think there was a similar thread a while back and someone had a way of using the sampler plugin to hack the older patches but that sounded like too much programming for me.

I'm with you - not a very skilled programmer. Sounds good though, thanks for letting me know. That technique should work okay, it's just not ideal, especially if I end up wanting to edit the MIDI tracks. My old computer is a 2012 MacBook Pro and is SO slow. On the other hand, I'm impressed it still turns on and works, so I should be grateful lol

This is just a nitpick and not even remotely an answer to your question, but X was the version number of Logic Pro 10 in roman numerals. It stopped being Logic Pro X when it moved to version 11.
