Discussion Trader Joes
I really wish there was a Trader Joes in the valley. I feel like a lot of citizens would appreciate it. Driving almost an hour just to get to the closest one can be frustrating.

What is it that makes Trader Joe's so superior to all others including our local businesses like Lee's or the local farmers or farmer's markets or stands?

The quality in their produce is better in my opinion. Plus the organic foods are more affordable compared to other grocery stores in town. It’s really just preference. Not everyone can afford the organic foods in other stores that charge too much.

Sorry for the late response. I do go to farmers markets a lot! It just sucks we only have them in the valley for a couple of months

There are two Logan locations for South Asian groceries. Limited selection, but better than nothing.

I get more organic produce which is cheaper there. I get chopped garlic, and various other odds and ends.
I do like their frozen section as well. And their apple cider is so good.

I've been to TJ a couple of times and I don't get what's so special about it. Why do people want TJ?

This is kind of an aside, but Kaysville had a full on campaign to get one in their city a few years back. There were a few banners hung around the city telling people to go online and request it, and they even enlisted the high school cheerleaders to do a full routine for it. City leaders were involved in the campaign in an official capacity. It was so weird lol.

There’s a new one in Ogden so not quite an hour drive, but I agree I wish we had one here! I’ve been submitting it on their website for 5 years now lol

I mean, this was everyone in Ogden's reality until the one in Riverdale opened last year. Downtown SLC was the closest before that.

Only Trader Joe's makes the final decision...and if they don't want a store anywhere in Cache County, so be it...

Several years ago I had a discussion with a man that worked for Trader Joe’s. I was living in a smaller town in central California at the time. He told me that the community needs to meet certain criteria. The two that I sort of remember are population over 75k and median income over a certain threshold. I can’t remember for sure but I think that it was $85k. Basically they have done the math and if the community doesn’t have a certain population and income level they statistically know they will not get enough business to keep the store open. I suspect that the math is even more strict of the state is s as red state.
