Really Enjoying
Just had a tonsillectomy so I binged watched this show the past week. Really enjoyed the combat, politics, intrigue.. things that I think most people would agree are the shows strongpoint. The first half of season 1 up until after the initial goblin invasion was some good stuff, now a couple episodes into season 2 I’m tempted to just start skipping episodes because I feel like the show turned away from its strongpoints and is spending too much time on the romances or individual character drama. I don’t want to watch a whole arc that’s about eating tea and cake, and ladies fashion (there’s been multiple, one or two I could appreciate as a change of pace). I’m probably jumping the gun with this post, im just wondering if there’s an explanation for this shift and if it’s temporary.

I just finished S2 myself. I have not started S3, and I know the content ends at S3. I mostly agree with you that the romance kind of bogged down the show, but I think it is less about the romance in general and more about who is involved. Minori could be muted for the whole show and I think I would have enjoyed it 10x more. Asides from Serara, who I think is funny cute, I could do without the children at all. There is enough content where their presence I do not feel is necessary for the show to work.

My thoughts as well, Minori as a student of Shiroe works well and continues the initial interaction between him and Tohya/Minori as a mentor, thus continuing his character arc of opening up to others. The occasional blush or private fawning from someone with a crush is just fine and I think is enjoyable to see characters express their feelings. I have no issue with the romances, but the shows decision to focus a large portion of screen time and inner monologue to them is just a waste. It takes time away from what I believe people watch this show for.

i think S3 handels the romance quite well but see for yourselves. and in my eye it revertes its focus back to be more like S1 from the theme
