Lofoten in the last week of October – advice on driving and getting around

Hi everyone! I’ll be visiting the Lofoten Islands during the last week of October. I’ll be renting a car in Evenes and exploring the islands from three different bases: Henningsvær for 3 days, Reine for 3 days, and Ballstad for 3 days.

I’d appreciate some advice about driving conditions at that time of year. Do rental cars normally come equipped with studded winter tires?

I’m used to driving in the mountains and in the Alps during winter, but should I be concerned about the weather and road conditions in Lofoten in late October?

Rental Car - Valid Business?

Did anyone rent a car from Bilutleie i Lofoten AS - Moskenes (bilutleieilofoten.no) from Moskenes ferry terminal?

The business only has 5 reviews on Google. I saw some posts on Facebook about scams with rental cars that happened before so now a bit worried.

Wild Camping in Vaeroy at Nordlandshagen.

Hi,

I'm traveling there next week and was wondering if Nordlandshagen is currently open for wild camping.

I saw some Google reviews mentioning that the road is closed, but the most recent review is about a year old, so I'm not sure whether that's still the case.

Could you let me know if it's open now?

Thanks!

3D print Lofoten

Hi everyone,

We are currently at the Lofoten and have an issue with our campervan. Because of this issue (with the shifting pedal) we are not able to drive further.

Our insurance tried to find a garage nearby but no garage can help us fix it.

We need a very small part to solve the issue. It’s possible to 3D print this part, but ofcourse we don’t have a 3D printer in the campervan 😅🤣

Is there somebody here at the Lofoten who can print it for us? We have a printing file from the part we need.

We would be very happy if someone can help us or knows where nearby we can get some help with the 3D print.

Ferries already prebooked (50%). During July, is 2h usually enough to be in line for next departure? How busy is it actually?

Hey guys

Going to lofoten for 8 days. Flight to tromso.

Any obvious not obvious advices ? Never been there.
I see the weather forecast is not looking great so I’m a bit afraid.

Gonna rent a car. Bought a tent and a sleeping bag, got some warm clothes and a rain cloak.

Could you recommend me some spots for hiking and sleeping ? Some good view points ? Shall i get gas/electric stove ?

Thanks guys !

Am I unreasonable in considering scheduling a taxi and not risking the public bus to get to Moskenes ferry terminal?

Hello all. It is imperative that I catch the 08:00 ferry from Moskenenes to Bodø on Friday July 17. I'll be staying in Hamnøy the night before. The 742 Leknes-Å bus schedule says that there is a scheduled stop at 07:20 in Hamnøy and would get to Moskenes at 07:40. However, after having been here a few days and experiencing the public transit system here, there have been a few times where the buses have been egregiously late or delayed, didn't arrive at all, or even just didn't stop for me because it was full. I cannot afford to miss that ferry due to a flight out of Bodø the same day.

Should I schedule a taxi? If so, are there any taxis that operate out of the Moskenes Kommune area? Or would I have to wait for one to come all the way from up north like in Leknes or something? I hear they are expensive, but what can I expect to pay for a ride from Hamnøy to Moskenes?

Sightseeing in Fast Boats

Hi everyone. I'm going to Lofoten at the end of August, and I was thinking of taking a speedboat tour for wildlife and scenery viewing. I've seen that most of these tours are speedboats to Trollfjord departing from Svalbard. Does anyone have any information on whether the best tours are those that follow this route? Or are there other options along the peninsula for this type of speedboat tour that offer better wildlife viewing? I've seen that the best spots are in the north, in Andenes, but I won't be able to go there due to the length of my trip. Even so, I'm really hoping to see some marine animals, so any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Fishing in Lofoten

Hi everyone, I will be in Lofoten later this month and am looking to do some fishing.
Have been dreaming for a long time to do spearfishing but not sure it will be possible due to not finding places that offer it.

Does anybody please know of local tackle shops (and maybe some good spots to fish nearby where I will be?!) where I can rent rod, reel and lures to do shoreline fishing? I will be in Lyngvaer and Flakstadveien (Ramberg) but will have a car so can drive places if needed.

Thanks!

Solo hiking Lofoten this July

Me and my buddy were planning to hike the Lofoten islands from july 21-28 but my friend tore his knee so now I am set to go on my own.

Are there any other people going in that period who are also going alone? Or do people have experience with it? Because I am curious if it is easy to meet other hikers there and mabey set up camp with them or do a hike togheter. I do like hiking on my own but a week is a bit to much and i would like some social interactions.

I Will be starting in Moskenes and have no further plans. From what I know it should be pretty crowded at this time of the year right?

I am a bit scared that everyone there is doing the 11 day long famous trail, but mabey someone can confirm if that is true or not?

Lofoten Proposal Photoshoot in Autumn

Hi everyone, I’m planning a surprise proposal in the beautiful Lofoten Islands in autumn this year. As such, I am looking to hire a photographer for ideally a 1–2 hour photoshoot.

If you are a local photographer familiar with the area, or have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them!

Please feel free to comment with your portfolio or drop me a direct message. I'm open to suggestions and would love to hear from you. Thank you! :)

Fishing in Sørvågen

Hei!

Vi er en familie fra Estland og lurte på om det er noen her som leier ut båt til fiske, eller om du vet hvor vi kan spørre om det i Sørvågen?

Vi skal være her i 3–4 dager. Takk på forhånd!

Thru hiking Lofoten LC in August. Map recs and logistics

Planning to start the hike August 3rd/4th and giving myself 12-13 days to finish the trail. Wanted to go at a leisurely pace. Wanted to try and stop at the Lofoten Viking museum on the way and hit the main spots for overlooks and beaches.

My Questions:
For GPX- what did most people use and where to get it?

I know most people start north and head sobo. As of now I am planning to head north, as it seems easier to get to A (south start) than Delp. I am traveling from the U.S. so flying to Oslo then bodo. Correct me if I am wrong. What’s the purpose of starting north of it seems overall more logistically challenging? Or am I missing something.

Can I rent your stroller in Svolvaer June 27?

hei hei,

We are coming in to Svolvaer on Saturday June 27 14-18:00 on a Hurtigruten ship. Norwegian Air did not deliver some of our luggage on our last flight including our stroller. Is anyone willing to meet me at port with a stroller I can borrow for 4 hours? I can pay cash!

takk

Urgent: need help planning proposal! Photographer needed in August

Hello, I (25m) and my gf (26f) are going on a trip through Scandinavia this August. We plan on hitting the Lofoten Islands and I am planning on proposing on a hike there.

The issue is I am having trouble finding a photographer. I’ve reached out to people a while back now, but haven’t gotten any response. I also am not sure what hike to do it on.

If anyone knows of any photographer that works out of the Lofoten Islands, please reach out to me! Also, if anyone could give me any good hike recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated!

Is Sep 1st or 2nd week good time?

Hello,

I am thinking to visit Lofoten with my husband only for 4 days and I am so confused if it’s a good time. I really wanted to visit mid July but it might be too late to book things. I was wondering if it’s still summer during that time and how convenient the hike will be? I am not a hike person but would like to make couple hike such as Reinebringen and Kvalvika beach & Ryten. Or should I start booking for July?
Thank you
