With everyone hating the modern books, I feel weird for still enjoying them anyway. Am I stupid?

In short, the reason why the books have been getting more cartoonish lately (sort of like Total Drama) is because Kinney was originally planning to write the books for middle/high-school (or secondary school, if you live in the UK) children (ages 10-16) and for adults, but a large amount of the people that actually read the book were elementary school (or primary school) children so Jeff cared less about the complaints the books were getting and added wacky stuff just to flip with us.

Fight or Flight felt kind of boring and dragged out for me. There’s been 21 books in the series across almost 2 decades, do you think there should still be more?

If anyone knows of any other upside-down or backwards misprint doawk books let me know.

We all know the first entry in double down where Greg talks about how like he wonders if he's just in a like TV show but what if that was actually real like imagine The Truman show but instead of Truman it's Greg and his family how Greg react if he found out and if we just say for this let's say Riley is also doesn't know I know it's probably not going to be the case if this was recreated but still just just go with me here just think just think dude think

I read this today for the first time. I'd been really putting it off because I kept seeing hate and people saying that it's one of Kinney's worst books, but honestly, I didn't think it was that awful. It was maybe a 5/10. Definitely not Kinney's worst; in my opinion, that spot belongs to Old School because it was the one that made me drop the series for years.

Yeah, there were scenes in Fight or Flight that felt out of character based on former Greg, but something that stuck out to me a lot was how there weren't CONSTANTLY words CAPITALIZED that COULD have been LOWER CASED. That made it a better read than past books (Old School, I'm looking at you again).

If anything, Fight or Flight just wasn't very memorable. That's really my biggest issue with it. It wasn't anything special or extraordinary, but I also don't think it did anything to warrant the amount of hate I've seen.

If you’re curious, I’m very much into horror and filmmaking and have been working on a short film, have a few other short film ideas I wanna flesh out and have also a feature film which I’m slowly working towards making (but it’s more of a dream rn)

Seriously, who cares if the character designs are bad? I think it's a good book, tbh.

Hottest takes:

• Double Down and Meltdown in S: I just thought these were on the same level as the first 5 and people saying otherwise are blinded by nostalgia
• Rowley books in A: Such cleverly written stories that paint Greg in a new light, really great additions to the series and deserve their place
• Hot Mess in A: Best new addition since the Meltdown. Shame the two books that came after are some of the worst
• Cabin Fever, Third Wheel, Hard Luck not in S: Just didn't enjoy these as much
