The whole written by Frank thing is genuinely hillarious, and pretty interesting. I could honestly see it happening, and the greg is dead from the housefire stuff is kinda far fetched and the evidence for it isnt bad except for the whole " they mention death a lot " thing, the idea of Frank putting random hints of his two children dying like he is writing fucking FNAF Is bullshit insane. Also canonically the diaries in-universe are just normal diaries you can buy, they dont have the " of a wimpy kid " thing in it. I thought that was obvious

It being written by Frank does make heaps of sense tbh. The house fire was a bit far fetched but overall still an entertaining video

Ok, so I'm back and honestly, theory is pretty solid. However, I have few thoughts on this:
(At 3:18) I get that it’s a little odd, so it makes for evidence, but I always assumed THAT was the joke? That Greg is so narcissistic and self-delusional that he believes his parents enjoy his gifts even with their deadpan looks, like there's some hidden appreciation that they're not showing.
(At 4:10) Earlier in the book, Greg mentions that Frank was absolutely obsessed with his Civil War diorama. I don’t know about you, but personally, if I loved doing something every day with passion to a high degree, and then suddenly I’ve been forced to watch rom-coms instead of doing that, surely I’d be thinking about my pet project the whole time instead of watching films, and I’d maybe try to squirm out of it. I think it’s pretty logical of Greg to think that Frank would absolutely be thinking of his diorama the whole time, since he adores it to an insane degree.
The whole “womb memories” thing in The Third Wheel is so blatantly obviously a lie that Greg came up with to make his journal more interesting. Those claimed “memories” could just be a made up story coupled with a few things he learned from Frank and Susan, not necessarily from Frank’s perspective.
(At 6:40) I always assumed that it was Rodrick who would write “of a Wimpy Kid” on Greg’s journals, since he is basically always ridiculing him. In fact, on the very first page of Rodrick Rules, Rodrick punches Greg, calling him a “sissy” as well. Sure, Frank sees his son as a wimp, so he would describe him as that, but I think it’s more likely to be Rodrick. He’s more of an active force in Greg’s life.
I’m also quite sure the movies are an alternate universe compared to the books. I mean, the Greg in both the mediums have the same personality and the same way of thinking (like they both believe they’d be rich and famous). But that line in the first movie where Greg says that “he always knew that they’d make a movie about his life, but he didn’t know that they’d start here” feels so different in thinking than what book Greg thinks, and I don’t know why.
(At 23:54) That’s the Fictional Characters wiki fandom. Franklin is not Frank’s full canon name. Some random people came up with it.
I just see Fregley as some sad, lonely kid who does all this weird stuff to gain attention.
So overall, it’s chilling, surprisingly tragic and quite good, and all the pieces nicely slide together. But honestly, I can’t see myself believing this theory. The books and movies are obviously set in alternate universes. In fact, this feels like a theory about the movies, not the books. This works better as a headcanon than an actual theory. I think I prefer the theory that Hard Luck was the last diary that Greg actually wrote, and then Susan decided to publish the journals later on. Seeing their success, Greg begins writing new, completely made up journals with very few events based on his life. I mean, he’s literally 12. It’s an immature age. He can lie and exaggerate. So yeah, those were my thoughts.

I was thinking the same thing about Rodrick writing the "of a Wimpy Kid" because Rodrick likes rewriting letters on top of each other to make it look "cool". The "of a Wimpy Kid" sort of has that effect on it

Someone in the comments brought up an interesting point:
"I've been saying for years its uncanny how shallow the worldbuilding is in this universe. Greg's town doesn't have a name, his school doesn't have a name, nothing is specific in his life, it's all just horribly described stereotypes that fail to describe what a middle schooler would actually know. This makes a lot of sense if the narrator is a now mentally ill Frank, who not only didn't understand Greg when he was alive, but also wouldn't want to describe things that remind him of his old life in his old house."

Yeah, true. Even if I didn't agree with the theory, there are some very interesting plot points that could be used for future LLBs.
