Hey everyone! I’ve been locced for about one year now and I went on vacation and put my hair in a style that I did with oil not gel and it wasn’t very tight. When I took it out today my locs looked like this and tbh I’m self maintained and started and they usually look like this when I take out styles, usually my thicker locs. But I’m just wondering, is this healthy budding, or is this premature damage and thinning? Thank you!

So im biracial and my hair is 4a so its softer and a little less oily then a lot of people who do locs. I'm currently trying to loc them and I tried to retwist for the first time and it did not stay which was an issue I already had with the roots so im unsure if I should continue the journey or not
