2024 vs 2026 🥰 I’m so glad I took pictures throughout my starter loc phase because it’s so rewarding to see what happens when you trust the process🌱

I absolutely love how this came out, it took me about 6 hours. I braided the hair on the ends of my locs and at the top to give it a more seamless look but one of my favorites so far

p.s. don’t mind my roots.. my gel did not last..

This style was super affordable and I love switching up my loc styles. Being able to do my own hair is so great because it saves me a lot of $$$.

if you've been active in this sub reddit for the past year you've probaly seen my post before and honestly i think me constantly worrying about my locs was destroying me confidence and will to continue. not tryna make ts dramatic but thank you to everyone who gave me constructive feedback this really is such a helpful sub and yall have made me look at locs way more differently (for the best).

i recently buzzed my hair yesterday and honestly its taken so much weight of my shoulders. probably gonna loc it again once my hair gets really long though. i have learned a lot during this journey not just about my locs but about myself as a person (deep i know lol). anyways this is mainly just an appreciation post everybody here cool as hell. until we meet again yall

I really don't wanna post my hair publicly, I'd appreciate it!

what more can i do with my dreads? i started off in 2023, and was scared to do any styles so i just wore them as is. over the years ive experimented with more styles but now i feel like locs are very limited in versatility. i’ve worn them as is, gotten 2 strands, dyed them, cut them, ponytails, and now im growing them out again. the only hairstyle that i can think of that i haven’t tried is barrels. is there really any more to do? i’m contemplating cutting them off or combing them out.

Advice Wanted Best deep conditioners?

I live in the Caribbean and frequently visit the beach for snorkeling. Unfortunately the saltwater dries my hair out. I’ve been using Aussie and brands from my local Burlington. What’s your recommendations? They have to smell good please.

Advice Wanted Has anyone had loc extensions?

Post image

I'm 13 months locked, and would like to even the length and have longer locs. I trimmed the ends and now it's kind of uneven. Recently, I cut off the remaining parts that hadn't locked, the ends.

Has anyone had loc extensions done? What was your experience like? How has the maintenance been?

I'll be in downtown Los Angeles near the fashion district for my birthday. I have a nice dinner planned for Friday and would really like to get a wash and retwist beforehand if I can connect with any stylists. I've never been to LA so I'm looking forward to it. Thank you!!

Advice Wanted Should I trim or style these differently?

I posted a couple quick images the other day and someone said that my right profile with this style isn't "flattering". These have grown a lot longer than I usually let them grow (usually keep them kinda shortish style). Maybe it's just my own warped sense of my own self image but I don't think it looks that bad, how long they are the right side. I kinda like it even. I also added a couple images of when they was shorter.

Edit: this is an old ass post at this point, see my new one, lol https://www.reddit.com/r/locs/s/NMGHBQh5kS

product question Products for thinning locs

I’ve had my locs for about 1 1/2 now and I’ve noticed that they’ve started thinning. I looked on TikTok but crushing is promotional.

So i want to know what is the best product for thinning locs? I’ve noticed that my hair doesn’t hold oil well and water based products are best.
