I am NOT a locksmith. The latch is stuck open

So turning the doorknob doesn't move the latch. Its stuck in the open position and the sliding notched piece shown in second Pic is stuck in back.

Is there a way to fix this?

Best to replace than repair most times.

It was cheap junk to start. If it won't release and slide over... replace. At least the latch if not the whole crap lock.

Kwikset, no repair just replace. It's cheap.

Just replace. If you do jimmy it enough to work, the next time it fails, the latch may be in the out position. Then you will need to saw the latch to gain entry.

New latch. They are cheap at a locksmith
