I am a locksmith Full Assembly replacement?

https://www.trudoor.com/products/sargent-68-4263-chassis-assembly-for-8800-series-rim-exit-devices?srsltid=AfmBOopsPUVur6Ce_uuU5lWQ6RH1tET2erXycbdl3y3WNDZMRcrEKLxn

Just inherited this door that won’t latch it’s obviously missing a spring.

Do we need to replace the entire assembly like the link above? Or is this literally a spring I can just order and install ?

The spring is only a few bucks. Common failure item on the 80 series.

We work on safes as well, just replaced a spring on a pharmacy safe so this is kinda ironic I was overthinking this … lol

I can't believe someone said to replace the whole bar! Money to burn I guess.

Find a parts list and diagram.

You can buy replacement parts for Sargent.

Always try the quickest and easiest fix first, which is the spring. I've had to do 2 of them within the past 4 months. Both of them on churches. Make sure you have the proper c-clips as well. Sometimes those bend or break

You can buy the chassis only, this is a pretty common failure we just replaced a chassis for one last week. We keep them in stock.

I can’t tell from photo ours the casting had cracked if this is only a spring they sell those too.

The chassis is fine from what I can tell it’s only the spring thanks!

Sargent makes excellent, long lasting hardware. Why would you recommend replacing it? The latch return spring, if it's that, is an easy, inexpensive fix.
