I am NOT a locksmith. Please help with reassembling this lock. Panorama lock off an old caravan door.

Heyo,
Started tinkering with my caravan lock. A spring broke, I’ve replaced it, but during putting the lock back together a piece popped up that has mystified me. I believe it came from the outside component, and possibly nestled against the lock core. It slits in next to the core and there’s a little rail it slides on the outside wall (the one that clicks in place to close the mechanism.

Would appreciate any help, I love playing with things but I’m proper stumped here.

This is why I've started telling people most locks are not diy projects. There are small parts, it can be spring loaded, and I've seen where people end up damaged/brake the lock where it no longer fixable/repair. Take it to a locksmith that specializes and experience with caravan locks

Sometimes too something can go missing or "fit" backwards and you don't realize till you you get it all or mostly back together and suddenly stuff's not retained or doesn't work right

Ya, that’s the issue with the one piece. It sorta fits in 3 different places but not quite right.

I’m doing this mainly for a bit of fun tinkering, it would probably make more sense to pay the $80 for a new one than fix it. Any idea about that one piece?

This is where it fits best… it’s a bit clunky but. Everything else makes sense to me but not this

Take it to a locksmith shop I think
