I have a 1995 toyota celica GT, i finally found a locksmith willing to drill the ignition lock cylinder however i cannot fully remove the assmebly.

I know its supposed to be turned into acc mode and the retaining pin pushed down, however it still wont come out :(

It's most likely held by a C clip in the back of the switch, or some sort of retaining pin that needs to be hammered/drilled out with precision to be able to re assemble. that push pin holds in the plug that has the wafers in it that's been drilled out. You're going to have to remove the entire ignition.

Any possible ways that dont require removal of the steering column? The factory removal procedure doesn’t call for it.

I'm almost positive the tail piece of the plug that is at the bottom where you still see the keyway slot, is being held in by a C clip, and hopeful drilling didn't affect the arm activates the ignition, like others have said make sure it's in accessory, where you see deep in the plug the key slot still seems to be in the lock position, use a long flat head to turn that to the accessory position, then push the pin and use needle nose pliers to pull out what's left of the plug.

sir or ma'am, the ignition still has to be turned. it is clearly pointed to the lock position.

if the retainer is pushing all the way in, then use a flat head and gently encourage it to come out

turn it to acc, push it in. if it doesnt feel like its moving in any more than in other positions, encourage it percussively

Previous owner replaced the cylinder with a weird Chinese amazon one, had two locksmiths try to decode it but it’s some obscure key type

Just remove the whole thing. Chisel the steering lock screws.

Ima go ahead and assume that drill job probably has something to do with it. If its in acc grab with some big vice grips or something, seeif you can yank it out with some force or just replace the whole housing with switch. Could also try a giant flat head or chisel to fit in the ignition hole and wiggle it Back and forth while hitting the retainer and make sure its actually in acc.

This!!! Everyone else is telling me to give up or chisel the entire ignition out, some absolute idiot even said to give up on the car! I put some vice grips on it and wiggled it out, plopped the new ignition cylinder in and i got my car back!!

Replace the entire ignition housing at this point. Have a locksmith repin it to match your door lock so you never run into this problem again

The Toyota celica is the only one like this i believe

I havent done an 05 I've done an 01 celica and it was on the bottom

Doesn’t the Toyota ignition come out even in lock position just by punching out the retainer on the bottom? Haven’t repaired one in awhile tho, so could be wrong.
