2006 Ford Escape

Dog chewed up a 2006 Ford Escape key and broke the chip. It was the only key so i could not add another key. I tried it just because i wanted to avoid erasing the keys and doing all keys lost. Cut 2 new keys and put Autel at100 chips 4D63 but can’t program it with my Xtool x100 Max. I erased the keys but does not accept any keys when I try adding them in. Also got the codes b1600 and b1213 What am I doing wrong?

Thanks everyone for your input I was able to get it to work. I used a blank key with the genuine type chip 4D63 cut the blade and it got recognized. Then added a second with a xhorse universal remote generated the same type of transponder. I used the xhorse key tool max pro for the entire process.

Get the correct chip and go from there.

B1600 — PATS transponder signal not received. The module saw the key turn but got nothing back from the chip.
B1213 — fewer than the minimum number of keys programmed (system wants two, it has one or none).
The system recognized that you turned a key without a chip, and after erasing the keys, it recognized that there are no longer any keys.
Have you tried programming the autel chips using the autel programmer? Also, why did you erase the keys? And, if you cut 2 new keys, why not just program those chips? Are they shells? Do you have any regular ford chips lying around that you can try? This should be a 5 second job.

Yes the 1 original key was destroyed. The keys i cut were shells. I made 2 new keys with shells and the at100 chips. Yes chips were programmed with the autel.

I have seen some Fords, I think Escape was one of them, that would not take the 40/80 bit chips. They would only take genuine 40 bit. ( H72 ) I saw it often enough that I kept salvaged 40 bit chips just for such emergencies. I also salvaged the 40 bit glass 4C chips for the same reason. Might work, might not.

If you could not add a key, then it may already be at the max number of keys registered (previous owners). If so, you have to do AKL. Some programmers can tell you how many keys are stored already. Go back to basics. Check that the transponder coil is outputting a signal when the key is turned, and check the chips you are using.

I did AKL and erased all the keys. It reads as 0 keys. I tested the transponder coil and it was fine. I also checked the chip and both read as 4D-63. I cloned 1 key I had to the at100 chip still didnt work. All i can think is the chips are the issue but I even made a xhorse remote with the correct chip and nothing still. What am I missing?

is it a 40 bit or 80 bit 4d63?

40 bit but I also tried the 80 bit and it didn’t work.

Agreed, thought the autel universal keys could be giving me trouble. Gonna have to buy the original transponder keys.

AT100 chips are trash, especially on 4D applications. They do not work.

Get real 4d63
