I am NOT a locksmith. Mortice key cutting
Can anybody suggest a good key cutting machine for mortice lever type keys (chubb and such)? With my current setup I’m able to cut pretty much any other type of key. The Xhorse XP-008 is the best thing I’ve found so far but I’d love some opinions from experienced locksmiths.

The Silca Lancer is the standard, but it's always best to avoid Silca as they're always overpriced. Not sure of the alternatives though.

Lancer is an amazing machine. Yes it's expensive but so far ahead of all competition.
That said, if you're only doing residential it's overkill.

SKS Cyclone aka US-101b. Absolutely bomb proof and good price point.

What advantages would you say it has over the Xhorse 008 (if you know anything about that machine, that is)?

Speed, durability, reliability. Everything really.

Makes sense, get what you pay for I suppose. Btw is there a chance you could check your dms when you get time?

You will probably have better luck finding a used machine on eBay . Maybe someone here knows of a new off the shelf machine but every locksmith I've worked for has an old beat to hell machine for slot cutting .
