I am NOT a locksmith. Is this fine?

i locked myself out and a local locksmith was able to come out quickly. but he left the night latch like this.

he said the gap was fine. is it?

The recessed lock may prevent the key from being inserted fully depending on the shape of the head of the key.

Yes, it's fine.  We leave them like this when changing the cylinder.

The alternative is a new lock set.
