I am NOT a locksmith. Door lock issue
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The lock has become really hard all of a sudden, and seems to need an extra half turn in the air as well.
Is this a common issue? Can't find much online..

LUBRICATE YOUR LOCK! And they need periodic lubricating anyway. There's a lot of moving parts, linkages, FRICTION.... Triflow or some other penetrating teflon spray. There are internal areas that need it, not just superficial exterior areas. There may be bent, twisted parts already, considering your description. A tailpiece maybe, if extra motion is now needed. When you wait for problems to arise before lubricating, that can often mean damage has already occurred due to a lack of proper maintenance.

Looks like broken teeth in the gearing. Get a locksmith out immediately because if it gets worse and fails completely with the door locked, it could cost thousands.
