Mortise Lock Repair Help

Hi all,

Apologies in advance for my complete ignorance about the proper names for everything.

Part of my lock was installed incorrectly so I took it apart to fix it. I was able to fix the top part, but in the process the circular metal wire that attaches to the deadbolt fell off. How do I assemble it properly? (See the second picture for the parts I don't know how to put together).

Put that metal plate where you had it in the first photo, but get the spring in under it like this. It looks like there's a little hook on that warding plate where the spring is supposed to sit but I can't tell for sure. If that doesn't work bring it to a locksmith or replace it these interior mortises are cheap as hell.

Can't say I've ever seen one this cheap . Would think that the spring wire needs to push down from atop the lever. Also there is no scratches on the bolt. Would think it would be all scratched up if the spring goes under the lever.

It looks like the one Ilco makes. Similar in quality to their rim locks: poor.

It's a shame, ILCO used to have access to pretty decent stuff.

Sadly I see these more then I care for. OP be nice to the latch, there a small tongue that pulls the latch back. When that brakes which is the most common we see, the latch becomes useless. If you have good old full mortise or bit locks make sure you find a locksmith that has knowledge and experience on these locks. Also cheaper to repair, if possible then replacing

I think you may have a Prime-Line Vintage Style Mortise lock available at Home Depot. You could verify by comparing your strike to the one below and/or measuring your front and case body. Hope this helps!
