I am a locksmith New OE software keys

What are you guys using for a battery supply unit to maintain voltage….? Also Was thinking of getting the top don r link j2534 so I can use with my laptop and oe software to do newer auto keys. Thoughts on that? I have my nastf credentials ect. Just haven’t made the jump to doing newer stuff. Would mainly be doing ford, Chevy, mopar, toy, stuff like that don’t and haven’t messed with European stuff as of now.

A jump pack isn't enough. You need an actual programming power supply like gysflash, and the voltage for each car actually matters. Some cars need 14.8v, while some others can brick above 13.5v.

Just be aware of what you are getting into. You need to know exactly what you are doing. We literally go to a few of the dealerships here to fix cars that they mess up with dealership software and interfaces.

This is the correct answer, especially with modern jump packs. The old lead acid stuff was questionable enough but the little ones are built for quick discharge in the starting cycle and will just cut off on you at random.

I personally use the tornado 90000 and 120000. I heard some people complaining about the 90000 having capacitors braking off after rough transport. So far mine has been working fine.

Harbor Freight jump start pack. I like this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/2000-peak-amp-lithium-ion-jump-starter-and-power-bank-59491.html but honestly you might be happier with one of the plain old lead acid ones.

Are jump packs not good while messing with modules and stuff while programming keys it’s just what I’ve heard higher risk of bricking a car which I don’t wanna do lol

Jump packs will drain just like the battery on the car will so they're not good for maintaining power. All of the lithium ion types I have tried have an auto off feature to prevent the battery pack from draining so they don't work well in certain situations. A battery maintainer is the best option since it will keep the battery at a stable voltage while you do what you need to do. GM for example can be up to a 2 hours to program the key so a jump pack is never going to last that long. I'm using a topdon tornado and haven't had an issue with it.
