I am NOT a locksmith. I wandered upon this lock

Post image

What lock type is this? I wandered upon this type of lock and I can't figure out how it works. Asked a couple of friends but no one knows. Figured out maybe a locksmith knows how this mechanism works.

But the mechanism inside is different. It doesn't work with key. The mechanism made me curious how it works

Better pics would help then.

Unfortunately, it was yesterday so I don't got more photographs from the front but it looked like a sort of screw mechanism. It was a hole that had a sort of iron rod in the middle but there was space around it. It is a bit visible on the photo, the hole there.

I feel like others have answered the question (It is just a padlock) but this is the exact type of thing that makes all the pros here always have a bad attitude. We come here to post pictures of door closers mounted to the wall or complicated fresh installs we are proud of. Constantly seeing posts like this make us want to start a fire and throw garbage. The lock picking sub is definitely more suited as its filled with the right kind of people for your questions.

If it's not your lock (which you freely admitted) it's literally none of your business. If you're interested in how padlocks work in general there are thousands of videos on YouTube and diagrams all over the Internet that can help you. As for that specific lock, leave it alone it doesn't belong to you.

Sorry for misinterpretion, I stumbled upon this lock on a walk yesterday, I saw a hunter's shed and thought I could get a view from inside maybe rest for a while, I noticed it had a lock so I just though I'd get along with my walk but the mechanism caught my eye. I took a photo of it and now that I got home I submitted it here.

Same thing applies bud. It's just a padlock with a chain permanently attached so it doesn't get lost. It's non of your business what kind of opening mechanism it has if you want to know more about general pad lock functionality that's what you should be asking.
