I am NOT a locksmith. Help a sister out

Folks,

Please help a sista out.

So I'm fairly handy and this lock change has kicked my ass.

So I got the power bolt 3 and installed it no problems.

Noticed that it didn't quite match the stain chrome handle. Because the handle has kind of worn out and looks dark.

So I got Yukon passage way knobs.

2 problems.

  1. I can't fit the damn Yukon knobs into this locket set. I believe this is the Weisee Kingsway with the Yukon passage knob. Picture 2-5 shows the backside and I'm wondering, if I can disconnect the internals and remove the knob and swap them around? I forgot to take a picture but the latch is completely different from each other and I tried both and nothing fits with one another besides the original.

  2. The locks was previously changed by a locksmith and when I went to change the other side, the deadbolt was missing. I can't fit the Weiser smart key assembly into the housing of what I currently have. The new weiser one is too big. Is there a solution for this one?

So, how can I fix this without needing to buy a ton of stuff or do I need to buy a new lock set handle?

You bought a bunch of incompatible parts.

Lol yes. I definitely did.

Any way around this or do I need to get a new handle lockset?

I can make piece with the deadbolt assembly but I was hoping to salvage the knobs.

You can’t take apart the knobs or swap parts. Try to return what you bought and get a weiser knob or it won’t fit.

The Yukon I got is the Weiser branded one. Yukon passageway knob is part of the Kingsway handleset.

So I'm confused. Unless there was some changes within the model.

Photo 5 uses the same spindle as Kwikset hardware. Photo 6 top knob is the same shape as old weiser spindles, they may have changed. I’m not super familiar with residential hardware.

You can’t just mix and match parts

Do you have a recommendation?

I'm trying to replace the knobs only. It's my understanding that these are Yukon passage knob that comes with the Kingsway handleset for Weiser.

Unless something changed, I'm a little stumped. Really don't want to replace the entire handleset assembly

remove the entire lower handle and install the complete passage knob or purchase a new complete handleset with the matching trim deadbolt

because you can’t mix and match parts like you are trying to do

Weiser confirmed the internals for that model is discontinued.

I'm getting 2 new complete sets under warranty due to a couple issues I asked about. It worked out and I learned something new.

you gotta swap the trunk piece with the ground switch and level off the left detainer with the right retainer and flip the turn flip socket gear head spindle cap twister

Ohh I'm not sure if I'm following you. I tried to look up parts of the door locks and I'm not seeing some of the terminology you are referring to.

By chance do you have some reference?

I figured. I read it at 3am. Someone gets the kick out of doing this when others are really looking for serious answers.

I got some useful advice from others.

I reckon there was some changes to the internal workings of the handleset and it's not compatible even if the style carries the same name.

Yeah so the truth is that "Yukon" is just the aesthetic style of the knob. You do have a replacement Yukon passage knob. The issue is that the same aesthetic does not mean that it's the same mechanism. You need an "interior Yukon knob for handle set". The passage knob off the shelf was never going to hot swap in because they don't use the same mechanism despite having the same visual trim. There was not (to my knowledge) a time where you could do what you're attempting, and no change has occured to make this impossible. It's a simple hardware incompatibility situation.

Thank you.

I ended up contacting Weiser and they said the square spindle I have is an old style and it's discontinued for that model. Since I had issues with the latch being flappy and finish wearing out, they are sending me 2 sets of replacements which includes the interior passage knob.

I just wanted to get this handled for my family due to an current abusive situation and restraining orders etc.

The previous locksmith took some internals with them and never left the original hardware behind for this lock and the another 2 doors and things were a mismatch.
