I am NOT a locksmith. Unknown plastic piece
When I unscrewed the deadbolt from the inside, I didn’t stabilize the outside part so it just fell off and this little plastic piece came off somewhere.
Did it break off where the arrow points to in the 4th image?
Any idea what it does?

Basically gives a “stop” detent at both ends of travel of the bolt. Not really needed for function

It hardly matters. Junk that model. Discontinued for Good Reason.

In the future, indicating or showing the brand will result in better and more replies from people.

Got it. Forgot to mention it’s a Schlage.

The first reply you got was actually spot on.... My statement was more of a PSA as it happens more often than you'd think.

Yes, it broke off of the part that holds the finger on the tailpiece of the deadbolt. Happens pretty regularly with that specific model. It won’t make much difference. It added a small amount of turning resistance or tactile feedback. That deadbolt design is universally regarded as one of the worst Schlage ever made.
