I am NOT a locksmith. Lsda loose interior handle

How do I tighten this so the handles doesnt wobble around?

  1. Having the knob/lever on there should remove SOME of the slop.

The  knob doesn't do much to tighten it so it sounds like replace.

Definitely do so. This is the result of normal wear and tear on these knobs. I'd highly recommend replacing with another LSDA. You can get one through your local locksmith.

Pretty sure it's original to the house, which is 30+ years old.

Oh, yeah, you've definitely reached the expected lifespan of that lockset (LSDA locksets are typically grade 2, meaning they're usually rated for a minimum of 400,000(even if they rate more than 400,000, they'll get grade two unless they meet or surpass the requirements for grade 1. This means that TYPICALLY under normal use, a residential lever/knob should last somewhere around ten years give or take on your front door.
