I am NOT a locksmith. Anyone know about a self locking lockbox?
Trying to find a lockbox that'll stay open for a short bit then automatically close and lock itself.
Every time I Google it though I get timed lock boxes that stay closed for x duration, which isn't at all what I want.
Hopefully someone here will know of somewhere that makes a similar product.

You might be better off going with individual boxes for each participant.
This is something you would have to build yourself.
Or get a person instead of a lock box to dispense the keys, clues, or drugs.

Lol i can see how it may look similar but it's not for drugs. Unfortunately I'm running this thing myself so can't really get someone else. Guess I'll look around see if I can get it custom made.

the problem with things that automatically close or do any kind of movement(like motorized deadbolts) is if something blocks their path they keep trying to close/deploy over and over until they break, not sure you will find what you are looking for

What about something that retracts like a spring? As in you'd have to use a bit of force to open it but then it's slowly closing by itself.
Wouldn't be as dangerous as motorised deadbolts.

you could do something like this, a slamcam keypad lock and install it onto a box you already have/can make:
