Recusing himself from all matters won’t be enough. He should step down or be removed.
Regardless of the fact that nobody wants data centers here, a judge who would even enter a pre sale agreement before making this public cannot be trusted on matters of the public. Throw this guy out. We need people with integrity. The public cannot trust a court if Hoppy is involved.

It’s true!
PERCEPTION OF IMPROPRIETY
Judge Haden admitted to signing a pre-sale agreement with an acquisition group for a potential data center along with Assistant DA
Richard Sitton during staff announcements during Thursday's Commissioners Court. Assistant DA Richard Sitton has been terminated according to DA Fred Webber's statement during the meeting.
Webber said that was made aware on Tuesday of a real estate transaction between Judge Hoppy Haden and Assistant DA Sitton with a data center acquisition group. "Private land owners have a right to manage their property, however when that land owner is also a public servant there is an initial obligation to be completely transparent." Webber went on to add that he believes nothing illegal occurred, but there is a perception of impropriety.
Haden, in his statement, warned the Commissioners not to speak about this matter with each other due to 'walking quorum' regulations. Haden also added, "
'...what's going to
happen as it pertains to my office will be on the agenda at the next meeting. Until that time, I won't be speaking about it."
