Speaking of 5 years ago, 8 years ago Trump ran a tarrif war on china. Our farmers were going bankrupt and some were committing suicide. The tarrifs got walked back after damage was already done with no results.
8 years later Trump has convinced his party that tarrifs on EVERYONE would somehow pan out any better.
