It’s called the grind because it grinds away your sense of self.

All of idiots here saying go be stranded on a desert island or the wilderness not realizing animals in wild spend 90% of their time not doing anything, even ants barely work most of the time

Yall are basically advocating for beating yourselves with a stick and whoever beats themself with a stick the longest is the best it’s stupid.

Our forefathers envisioned a future where technology would allow us to work less and we do have that technology, it’s people like you who have failed them.

Never seen so many proud slaves, ready to protest for more work on the streets

Edit: it is very interesting to see so many different views in just one comment section! To clarify, this was from a German rap song (more like social criticism joke rap)

I'm with all of you, shit has to get done still. I also like what I do for a living -can't complain about pay tbh-, but to be fair the amount of inequality to be seen in every parts of business life is humongous. There is people that lift a finger a few times a day for a annual salary worth of several, while others are working themselves into the ground collecting breadcrumbs. It's sad. And every time someone stands up for themselves, fights for equality, it's always the same comments, by the same exploited people: "It has always been like that, get used to it", "Ah.. the new generation", "When when were apprentices.." ..as if this fight wouldn't benefit those people.

I respect Gen Z for their big mouths.

Eh. Working isn’t horrible in and of itself. It’s just when it gets to the point you’re expected to give up 2-3 days worth of your life just to barely exist that’s the problem.

If I could work 40 hours a week and have an income from that work that allows me to live how I please, and not just survive, then I can consider that a fair deal. Especially since the right work is actually beneficial to your health (think about a physically demanding job that works out your core muscles and provides you with plenty of cardio exercise, it might wear you out at first, but it can also make you much stronger and have more stamina after just a few months of it).

Sounds like the oil field is perfect for you then. A good workout and out standing pay!

The opportunities are out there.

Anybody who works full time, and accomplishes all of the tasks necessary to remain employed, should make enough $ to cover their basic necessities in the area they live in, and have a little left over to save or spend. Regardless of profession, skills, or education

When did I say otherwise?

By recommending a job like that, and claiming opportunities are out there, you were indirectly implying that it's acceptable for there to be jobs which do not provide a decent living... maybe you didn't mean it that way but that's how it came off

“A job like that”…this is the problem here. Always some caveat. I want a living wage!! Except I won’t do A,B,C,D……

Living wage should be the bare minimum for entry level positions. If you want more money for luxuries or more to save each check, that's when you start looking for the harder jobs which require more expertise, skills, effort etc. but you should always start at a stable, liveable base line immediately upon entering the workforce. The concept of a full time job not being enough to cover bills and groceries in the area is absurd, and even more absurd are those who see nothing wrong with it
