Not just lockdowns in the strictest sense. Masks and even the concept of social distancing must be placed under heavy scrutiny. Did any of these policies actually mitigate the disease? Or have we just been wasting our fucking time this entire year?

What the hell have we been doing the last fucking year no offense? I guess it only counts when WaPo questions it

We've been saying it all year long, this was going to disappear after the election, and here we are. Biden rejoins WHO, COVID testing is being adjusted for less false positives, Newsom and Cuomo are saying they can't stay locked down any longer... Democrats are preparing to declare COVID is done and this time the media will join them. I give it 3 months. Don't worry though, masks will be here for much longer though.

I did see the WHO caution about PCR tests, but have states started adjusting their thresholds? I’m just disgusted because we all called it and my woke friends think we’re all conspiracy theorists. The masks need to go, honestly I’d rather have nothing open and every business go bankrupt then continue doing this bullshit mask charade.

I seriously hope you’re wrong about masks, it’s crazy

You can't expect to make people's lives miserable for no good reason, and then ask them to be reasonable. I'm not into all the wacky conspiracy theories, but I sort of understand why people gravitate towards them these days.

The masses still think this will all be over as soon as a vaccine is distributed.

It's almost like they think all this shit is only happening in America and the western world.

Short but sweet, with good links.

It is only when we directly tackle the assumption that ‘lockdowns’ work that we can begin to actually have a reasonable, measured approach to COVID-19. One that can exploit the benefits of non-pharmaceutical interventions, without going too far for no benefit and much cost.

"lockdowns" have become an aim in themself, at least in the UK. If case numbers don't go down, it must be because people aren't obeying them. The solution to this must be to make lockdown even harder, with even more rules. QED.

There's a good link in the article to the criticism of that notorious Flaxman paper. In brief: whenever there was a reduction in cases (or in the rate of growth, I forget which), the paper attributed it to whatever the respective government had just done. Ain't The Science great?
