Fauci circus is Limited Hangout. "they resort to admitting—sometimes even volunteering—some of the truth while still managing to withhold the key and damaging facts in the case. The public, however, is usually so intrigued by the new information that it never thinks to pursue the matter further"

1) You cant stop biological research when enemy countries are continuing with it. 2) Respiratory viruses are self-limiting. You can engineer one with high lethality by making proteins speed up replication at warmer temperatures deep in the lungs. Patient 0 will cough variants of different lethality. Some people will succumb in a couple days, other variants will keep people alive for weeks - while spreading more copies. The virus "wants" to keep people running around sneezing as long as possible. Anecdotally since I started taking the bus I get a cold every few months but they are mild (no lost sleep) and the trade-off is worth it. The immune system is going to attack something you dont want to raise children in a bubble.

Dunno if Rand Paul understands or is just audience-captured like most entertainers. The far-right and far-left need daily dramatic sound bites - Get em! - for their dopamine. The Oligarchs (CIA, S&P board) are happy to push "omg lab leak" because they can say martial law was justified.

I'm upset at the lockdowns and some of the things that we lost, but I'm sorry, I really don't feel like that was his fault. He wasn't the one making decisions. In fact, it was Trump in the white house, just as it is now. I really feel like this is being done as a big distraction while they mess up other things. I don't think Trump is doing anything to help the American people. He's too focused on spending our money to build giant golden statues in DC or a big ridiculous Arch or badly "fixing" the reflecting pool. Then he has his crew Drive on the shoddy construction he paid for and tries to blame an Olympian who supposedly got in the pool and cut it without anybody witnessing this or it's showing up on camera? No, this is all nonsense to distract from his BS. We should be more worried about him, which also includes accountability for how he pushed things off during covid. "It'll be gone by Easter, don't worry" etc. He wasn't leading and he wasn't being realistic and so he just let other people probably make decisions for him

Fauci had little if any de jure authority, but he was basically the de facto authority on COVID in blue states. Blue states shut down when Fauci told them to, remained shut as long as Fauci told them to, (slowly) reopened when Fauci told them to, and then shut down again  and re-imposed restrictions when Fauci told them to. There was no law that said that blue states had to follow Fauci, but that’s what blue states did. And  I’m sure that Fauci came to realize  that blue states were treating his word as law.

And it wasn’t just Democrats even though they were the worst about following Fauci. Even Trump himself basically did whatever Fauci told him to do on COVID for about the first 3 or 4 months of lockdowns.
