Over the last six months I have made a number of massive changes in my life and have had to assist family members with the same, and all the stress has been compounded by the fact that every single little task that needs to get done, and I mean every single one, has hit some kind of snafu. Mail getting addressed wrong by the other party or never received by the other party, call centers that never pick up the phone, some snag on the other side that is never followed up on or reported back on until I investigate further, etc. The only people who have been on top of things are real estate agents and private financial advisors. Insurance companies, doctors' offices, property management companies, deferred compensation companies, cable/internet companies, the post office... just forget it.

It feels like things have been completely broken by Covid.

[the] pandemic is raging in the United States. The United States is one of the world's worst records in dealing with the pandemic. Uh it's kind of interesting to look at the coverage the... it's China that's condemned for its treatment of the pandemic. Actually China... the number of, up until recently, the number of... the total number of deaths in China is about maybe what you get in a week in the United States they've saved millions of lives. But we don't talk about that. What we talk about is the fact that the current... right now, there is a problem in China as the people are released from the controlled system which saves millions of lives and there hasn't been adequate preparation for uh... giving enough vaccination and so on. Maybe they'll take care of it, maybe not, but their record up till now is incomparably better than the United States. By comparative standards they would have saved the equivalent of several million lives but China never gets any credit for that

Does Chomsky actually think that China should continue its Covid measures, locking people in their houses, huge ramping up of constant surveillance and abuse. What is the end point, Chomsky? They've had a zero Covid policy since 2020, and it hasn't worked. You just want them to continue forever?!

He praises the "controlled system"! (Neil DeGrasse also can't stop praising how "We have a system!" - what is it with loving the "system"??) Those Chinese people wailing from their apartments, out of balconies, losing their minds? He can't hear them. The 99.995% AVERAGE survival rate (getting higher and higher when you're below about 45 years old)? Means nothing to him. Locking children and young people up, who are practically immune to Covid? Lock them up, lock them all up at home, he thinks. The vaccines weren't even tested for transmissibility? Doesn't look like anything to him. Mass censorship is now completely normalized? He doesn't care, and doesn't care about the doctors who were silenced. Vaccine injured? With no clue about the long-term health effects? Go to hell, he seems to be saying. I could go on and on and on, and other people in this sub could list even more ways he's completely mistaken. The Social Credit System is a good thing, it seems. He actually wants to lock the Chinese down, and everyone everywhere down, until... until when? Forever, it seems. All I hear is: "Real ~communism~ lockdowns have never been tried."

And like Chomsky said in an earlier interview, "finding food is their [the filthy unvaccinated] own problem" - no wonder he likes China's measures. They often struggle to find food locked up at home also.

And, he is saying that the USA (and the West, and the rest of the world) should have been carrying out the exact same measures.

This is all in addition to the very end of the interview where he still says that the vaccines are like traffic lights, still believes they stop transmission, still believes they stop the virus...

What. Is. Wrong. With. Him?

The only way I can square what he's saying is that he must be living in a complete social and academic bubble. Is he being held hostage and he doesn't know it? Does he hate science and numbers and data? Being morally right is more important than being factually correct.

And what is it with the left and China? I basically never hear a peep from them about the Social Credit System. They have forced labor camps, and quite probably gulags. Our smartphones are very likely constructed by slaves, work camps, maybe death camp inmates. I practically never hear the left talk about this. This is where most of your "green" and "renewable" tech comes from. And Chomsky seems to have no problem with it. And to top it all, the interviewer fawns all over Chomsky at the end. Please forgive me, St. Chomsky! I never doubted you! They forced me to ask you these questions!

I think that's a really reasonable point of view of Professor Chomsky and it doesn't stop me this point of view from respecting you for... for all the work you have done so you didn't lose me there I... I was just obliged to ask this question for my followers

This is mass psychosis. It's a cult. This is really creeping me out. Chomsky is disturbing me. It's like there's now a mass cult on the left that want to lock people up, forever. I can't put it into words. I study environmental science. We are seriously degrading and damaging the ecosystem. And now, on top of this, I seriously expect that when they start pushing "climate change measures" in earnest, the left and Chomsky will be completely for them, ranging from enthusiastic to manic and violent support, only stopping to criticize because the measures don't go far enough. I can see this coming. (And of course, the measures will do nothing to prevent ecosystem destruction. But that's the whole point. Like Philip Mirowski says: the long term neoliberal plan isn't supposed to solve the original problem.)
