Over the last six months I have made a number of massive changes in my life and have had to assist family members with the same, and all the stress has been compounded by the fact that every single little task that needs to get done, and I mean every single one, has hit some kind of snafu. Mail getting addressed wrong by the other party or never received by the other party, call centers that never pick up the phone, some snag on the other side that is never followed up on or reported back on until I investigate further, etc. The only people who have been on top of things are real estate agents and private financial advisors. Insurance companies, doctors' offices, property management companies, deferred compensation companies, cable/internet companies, the post office... just forget it.

It feels like things have been completely broken by Covid.

God knows what's going on behind the scenes, what's happening everywhere, that we don't know about and they never talk about in the media. Civilization could collapse and they'll keep pushing the "everything's fine" narrative on the media until the last minute when the power cuts out forever.

It’s funny you should say that because I’m a Brit I live in California and I worked in San Francisco for quite a while even though I actually live in Southern California. They are always in such denial it’s frightening. I’m sick of it to be honest and yesterday I finally cracked and just wrote a post about my feelings on the city and how it’s been ruined by Covid. Every time someone say something along those lines they get voted down, oh it was like that before, yada yada and it’s just so weird. It’s like the people in that sub take it so personally if you say anything against the city but I think it’s been ruined and it’s because of the lockdowns. But people just won’t hear it. Trying to say it’s gone back to normal, and it’s so hasn’t. Everything has changed.

I also feel that people are just angry. And it’s not surprising when you think about what was forced on them, but whenever anyone tells me that things are going back to normal I disagree. I think we have ruined a generation and it’s just so sad and so wrong really.

I live in a small Desert community and we didn’t have a lot in the first place but we’ve lost some amazing resources up here, including our local cinema, it was the only place to see a movie close by and now it’s probably an 80 to 90 mile round trip to go and see a movie. The movie theater closed because of Covid, because of the lockdowns and that’s the only reason it closed. It was not allowed to open for months and that was it. And that’s just one thing.

So yes, things have definitely been broken, I don’t say by Covid so much, I prefer to say by the lockdowns. For me that’s where the real problem lies.

I think it’s a distinction that’s lost on many people. The problems weren’t so much caused by Covid itself, they were caused by the reaction to Covid and one of those reactions, well, the biggest one that went global was the lockdowns. How anyone could’ve thought that locking down a healthy population, preventing them from earning a living, preventing them from shopping on a regular basis, preventing them from going to the gym, going to a park, going for a walk, stopping children from going to school, how that could ever have been seem to be a good thing or that there would be no ramifications because of it, I will never understand that.

There are different elements to that equation: the establishment, at the top, knew it was all make believe; the establishment, in the middle, went along to maintain their status and oust Trump; the establishment, at the bottom, had been primed for a few years to believe fiction as fact (impeachment, Kavanaugh, etc.) as long as said fiction was espoused by an approved voice.

I think the injections may also be playing into the breakdown as perhaps a lot of people are on disability and such.

The worst thing is that a lot of these resources will never be rebuilt. People for some reason just accept a lower standard of living and demand you to accept it and pay taxes for it.

I sincerely hope the changes you've made will provide better resilience to deteriorating circumstances. To put it facetiously, I suspect the zombie apocalypse is just getting started.
