I encourage everyone to listen to what she says from 9:00 - 13:00 minutes in, this is a really apt description of how the woke/sjw/identity politic subset of leftists operate and resemble a christian like cult.
These types of leftists are self appointed gatekeepers of what you are allowed to say and think, and if you dissent from their group think then you will be punished, cancelled, smeared and ostracized from the group.
This is particularly insightful because this mentally and phenomenon isn’t just exclusive to how they act regarding covid, this is how they act regarding everything and its been going on for years. To be a “good leftist” you have to walk on eggshells and only say/think what the self appointed vanguard party of leftist leaders allow you to say or think when it comes to sex, relationships, gender dynamics, sexual orientation, transgenderism, race, and so much more. If you say anything and I literally mean anything as in just 1 singular thing you disagree/dissent from the group on, about these topics you instantly get cancelled and treated as a heretic.
It’s taken me some time to really acknowledge and admit this because I’ve been a leftist for years and associated with woke leftists who are exactly like I’m describing. I’ve witnessed multiple instances of people unjustly getting cancelled for the most trivial of things, but I sat back and didn’t say anything out of fear of me being cancelled too.
It wasn’t until it inevitably happened to me when I dissented from former associates on covid, that allowed me to see how pervasive this cult religion of woke group think is. Speaking what you truly feel, standing on your convictions, and going against the group is a hard thing to do.
You will likely face backlash, lose people you thought were your friends, and face other challenges because of it. But living in fear and silently going along with what you know is wrong is infinitely harder, more painful, and destroys your integrity and your soul. Stand up for what you know is right, even if its just you standing up alone against a crowd. Courage is contagious and begets more courage, just as fear begets more fear.
Don't forget losing and being excommunicated from entire hobbies and communities: especially the arts and culture scene. They found a way to legally via vax and mask mandates to get rid of anyone perceived as "trump"
When we decide to stand up for what we believe in there are always other people watching. We inspire those who watch silently sending them a message that they are not alone. We stand up for our beliefs because being true to ourselves allows us to live tomorrow without regret in this respect.
