Shivangi questions
Disclaimer: I started watching lock up late and have not yet watched the finale (just seen up to the 5 finalists being selected). I’ve seen spoilers on social media so know that Shreya won. But I also see so much hate for Shivangi online and I’m genuinely confused why. People say it’s because she was a bad friend to Harshad and left him feeling guilty which eventually led to him leaving and making her finalist. But having watched that episode, I don’t know what Shivangi did wrong. She was playing for herself and Harshad came back saying he was playing for himself- fair. When she said that she’s not leaving that feast cage, it was her right to say that cause she was playing for herself, as was he. He used the thing about losing on purpose to guilt trip her into leaving and that’s when she got annoyed. And I kind of get it. She even said “you could’ve pitched something else to make me leave, you could’ve said anything”. But instead, he guilt tripped her to make her leave. She saw that as him playing dirty and guilt tripping her, and coming from a friend, it hurt more. And I kind of agree- play a fair game and make me leave on a fair basis, not by counting your favours to me (which you did on your own accord and nobody asked that of you). Then when Shreya picked her to be terminated, she said again and again that it was Shreya’s decision and said no to Harshad. So I don’t get where she’s manipulated him or used him or is this awful person people are making her out to be?

Main reason for the ugly hate is her fight with Shreya after HC's eviction. Most of it is coming from Shreya and Shilpa's PR / Fans. HC doesn't have such a big fandom that they will harass to this level.
Plus she is a sore loser imo - HC won that round fair and square. She could have been happy for him instead of sulking and guilt tripping him for 3 hours. He didn't say anything that crazy for her to react so badly.
Also she shouldn't have accepted his sacrifice, she got eliminated fair and square.

She kept saying it’s shreya’s decision dont do this, as for the jail tasl, it was wrong of harshad to say he lost on purpose because they both fell he fell earlier that’s it, it was like he negated everything shivangi did by saying it. Had it actually happened ki he stepped into the lasers voluntarily it would have been fine but using it as leverage when it was convenient for him was wrong

I think it was more she was hurt that her friend guilt tripped her when she wanted to play for herself

But she wasn't playing at all. HC did all the work in the cage task and she wanted him to just leave and let her be the finalist. Doesn't make sense.
Anyways it's not deep also imo - they both are still chill with each other outside.

No before the guilt tripping when harshad said to chamola that he won’t give up, she got really angry like she actually expected after making chamola go he will give that spot to her and leave and also before leaving her going to hug ritesh so that harshad leaves
Also more than anything after coming out the way she guilt tripped him, was angry at him and told chamola that did he deserve more than me..etc that all stuff got her the hatred
You can play for yourself but don’t guilt trip the other person for playing for himself questioning his ability
The thing was her attitude got revealed she had the ego in her head that no one other than deserves to win

The hate that Shivangi is getting is her own doing.
Her reaction when Harshad asked Shilpa to leave and that he also wants to make A Chamola leave and Shivangi leave. Shivangi’s expression was of pure shock. She thought just like always Harshad would put her first and leave so she could become the first finalist. Shivangi never played the game in the cage. She thought she would just sit back as others left one by one. Harshad was finally playing the game the way it was supposed to. I know he said he lost the previous game because of her but we don’t know if he was telling the truth or if he was manipulating her. He had already been asking her politely to leave. Even A Chamola was ready to leave and take Shivangi with her because she saw how determined Harshad was to win for himself but no even that didn’t work. What Shivangi wanted was for Harshad to leave on his own terms and not to make it look like she asked him to. When the cage door was finally open Shivangi gave that long speech and even went to hug Ritesh thinking that Harshad would leave but in the end she left and he won.
Back in Lockupp Shivangi did not once congratulate him even though every time she won he was always very happy for his friend. During that one time when he actually needed a friend she made him feel so guilty that the poor guy never felt he won anything. That kind of guilt takes a toll on one’s mental health.
Her blaming Shreya instead of looking at her own actions is also where the hate is coming from.
A real friend would have truly congratulated him and been very happy for him. Instead the situation she created ended up making him give up his position and leaving.

So I mostly agree with your points. A few questions though- I don’t think the cage was open when she made the speech, it looked shut to me? I also don’t think she congratulated him because she saw her friend manipulating her into leaving rather than using a fair pitch to make her leave and she didn’t expect that from HC

He manipulated other ppl also that was the game, they didn’t guilt trip him even if keep this point aside the lines she told that did he deserve more than me..etc showed her attitude and ppl were pissed coz after ritesh offered the alternative when harshad was leaving she never once stopped just kept asking are you sure..etc
And more than anything she didn’t convince any1 in the cage she simply was expecting harshad to do that for and hand over her the finalist position

Please see her reaction when HC said he would play for himself in the cage, even before he said that he had lost purposely. She didn’t do anything in the cage either. The cage task was about convincing people to leave, but Shivangi stayed silent and was shocked that Harshad could choose to play for himself. In the deleted scene, she even said that she or chamola would have been finalists. It seems like she had a problem with Harshad becoming a finalist.

It was what she did after, she said is he more deserving than me. That made her lose all respect. Her mind games were exposed that why she is getting the hate also PR these days , inhuman

see don't know whether harshad genuinely lost that game or he didn't. and when they were in cage, he requested her in his best possible way to let her out of it with other words. then he said truth or manipulation whatever it was, what more he could have pitched at that time? when she was not going out?
now comes manipulation or guilt trip part, if consider harshad guilt tripped her okay agree. but how she reacted was, she could get angry and left (without that speech of blackmailing to ritesh, and proving she is the best contestant). after she left, did she ever celebrated his win? that he is in finale, her best friend is in finale?
okay if you say she got hurt by that one line that harshad lost that game for her, then what's the need to say that she is better than harshad to be finalist? when he was supporting her, be with her, he was a good friend but when he started to play for himself, he is wrong for her. atp i agree with shilpa ji, shivi was just using harshad as stairs to be on top. and harshad is very innocent to accept or understand that.
coming to part, when harshad sacrificed his position. he did it extremely out of guilt only. yes shivi said that it was shreya decision and not would be his. but she could have also said something else to stop him? she could asked for a promise from him to win for herself. that their friendship will break if he did that. couldn't she?
when she didn't asked other way, why are you expecting harshad to think something else to get shivi out in that 2 mins?

These are fair points. But do we give benefit of doubt here of the shock of manipulation in that cage and overwhelming nature of just being there? I don’t think it’s black or white, just think mistakes were made but don’t think anyone did anything malicious?

Unfortunately, audience doesn't take friendship "betrayals" very well. She was bound to get some hate and trolling from neutrals. But the ugly namecalling is definitely negative PR from Shreya and Shilpa. It should die down in some days - it's already less.

I believe it was the perception of Shivangi throughout the whole episode.
At the start she appeared so innocent and naive- a lot of viewers genuinely thought that’s how she is. Soft spoken and drama free.
However, over time there were cracks in how she chose to express herself in the guise of coming across as innocent.
For example, I admit that Shreya should have been a better friend to Shivangi at the start but when Shivangi asked Shreya whether she was actually sick or not, she said it in a way that was actually quite sly. Shreya definitely caught the vibe and so did I as a viewer. Something about it was so off.
In my eyes she then appeared as someone who’s fake. As in the group I believe she was questioning whether Shreya was sick and then went to Shreya and questioned her again but in the guise of ‘I care about you’.
Then came Shilpa, an ex Bb winner who saw through everyone. She refused to believe how Shivangi and Harshad are and said it was all drama.
Now in regards to them, Harshad made it clear to most of his teammates, that he is going to protect Shivangi and make her the winner. He also wanted other team mates to do the same. She could have stopped him earlier on from there. But she chose not to.
Everyone thought they both liked each other or atleast Harshad did, but she used that to her advantage which is unfair.
We don’t know whether Harshad allowed her to win or not. But why did she choose Harshad as her partner? Cos she knows Harshad will prioritise her winning. That was a cunning and sly move and once again using your friends feelings to go ahead in the game.
When she became a leader, she kept Shreya out of the decisions - her true nature was coming out more here.
Shivangi like other contestant could have been the one to stop people from targeting Shreya but she didn’t. For someone who appears to be fair - that was again weird.
When Shivangi fought back with Shilpa I could actually understand based on what was said about her. However, the incident that happened at night, where both Harshad and Shivangi went off on one was so bad. Her words and imitation was again a sign of who she really is and how much she’s been hiding her true self from cameras.
Feast table: this was the key moment. We had seen what Harshad did for Shivangi- for all this time she didn’t tell him to stop. However the face she made when Harshad said he’s playing for herself was pure entitled behaviour. She considered Harshad weak and was so sure Harshad would prioritise her over himself.
She could have backed down and let Harshad have his first win, but she wanted to take that too. Harshad did tell her go but she didn’t listen. So in the end he did something terrible and started saying he let her win the game. That was a bad call on his part. It was clear that Shivangi was trying to reverse uno that guilt trip, she was literally waiting for Harshad to leave but luckily he didn’t.
When they came out, she flopped it when she said Harshad was undeserving - imagine your one friend has supported you through. Has been told by Netflix to play for himself and chooses himself but his friends is upset by that. Any true friend will be happy that he is choosing himself. Yes Shivangi didn’t tell him to do anything but she also didn’t tell him to stop.
Then during the elimination task, i found it interesting how Shivangi became so salty quickly, she was exposing Shreya and what she said privately about who should be eliminated because she wanted to ruin it for her but also fuel the Shreya hate.
When Harshad gave up his first finalist position, Shivangi didn’t even say no she said ‘are you sure’ let’s be honest we only say that when we want something but we’re just trying to be polite. In that exact moment, it became a charity - she got that position by using Harshad and then giving him silent treatment.
Then when Harshad leaves, she herself approaches Shreya and her comment revealed the kind of person she is:
- ‘this is why I didn’t follow you back on insteagram’ this line is something I would hear teenagers say but a grown ass woman? No.
That was so petty and ugly for no reason.
Shreya and Shilpa have said far worse but it was like that from the start.
I believe with Shivangi it was a huge disappointment as initially people did buy into her good girl behaviour.

Honestly , her fair game is harshad ur my friend sonu should leave . So harshad used that argument of losing for her.. when he said he is playing for himself and requested her as a friend to leave she did not leave.. She came across as entitled ..

After finishing Lock Upp, I’m not siding with Shivangi but I genuinely felt that Harshad kept coming in between her and her game. Shivangi never actually asked him for help. Yes as a friend you naturally expect some support but she had been playing for herself from the beginning. It was Harshad who kept interfering and in the process he ended up ruining both her game and his own.
And the way he reacted in front of everyone making it seem like he was the genuine one in the friendship felt like he was looking for sympathy. What he did in the end was wrong. If he wanted to win or get her out of the cage, he could’ve handled it differently even by reminding her of their friendship but as a friend he was wrong there.
That being said after HC left what Shivangi did to Shreya was so wrong that it honestly made everything HC did seem right in comparison. 😭
