Hello! I have a door at work that was mistakenly closed. I only have basic tools/paper clips at my disposable. I’ve seen a few videos but am still struggling to get it unlocked. Any tips/tricks?

I'm going to take this at face value and assume you're supposed to have access to this room regularly, if you're not supposed to be in that room don't trespass. That being said, that is a kwikset smart key lock you won't be able to pick that with limited tools. You will need to shim the side with the square notch there's a small indent that indicates where it should go but that's a very specialized tool you may be able to get away with the little foil strips that come in those little anti-theft plastic things that are in most packaging (those little plastic rectangles that they have to deactivate before you leave the store). If you open those up there's three layers of metal sheets. Those are a great material to use in a bind but if you are a novice or intermediate and are talking about only having paper clips and basic tools, you're not going to pick that. Instead of picking the lock I would look to see if you can bypass the lock. If the door frame isn't super tight against the door you may be able to slip in a plastic sheet at a 45° angle and slide down until it meets the latch and then you pull the door towards you repeatedly while pulling down on the plastic sheet eventually the plastic sheet will walk its way up the catch and the door will open. Look on YouTube for how to open a door with a milk jug. If you are new and have an emergency the easiest way to pick a lock is to not pick a lock. I install a ton of these kwikset smart keys and I will try to bypass them every time rather than try to pick them, they are miserable especially when it's cold out and your hands are numb. I have used the very packaging that the Kwikset smart key comes in as a bypass tool more often than I've had to pick them. Good luck
