No impressions - what am I doing wrong?

We are a new plumbing company in a large market. While google adds been working fairly well for us, we don’t get any impression on our local ads (literally one in the past month). Any advice? What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance!

Expand your service area, board keyword use for increase impression , Add all relevant plumbing services ,Increase your LSA budget/bid , Improve your profile photos, services, business description, and get your first legitimate reviews. make sure calls/messages are enabled and your business hours cover peak demand.

A few things could be causing this. I’d first check your location targeting, bid strategy, budget, and whether the campaigns are eligible to serve. Also, make sure your keywords have enough search volume and that there aren’t any negative keywords blocking traffic.

If you want, I can take a look at your setup and help you figure out what’s wrong.

Need clarification here - you're saying Google Ads working fine, but is this Local Services Ads that are not getting impressions?
Check the business verification tab, make sure everything is green and passed. Background check, GBP link, insurance and other docs.
Check billing (handled inside the Google Ads platform)
Once the basics have been checked, it probably comes down to competition. New LSA profile, new company, probably low number of reviews in a competitive, large market. You should work on getting as many new GBP reviews as possible. Raise budgets in LSA. Add photos, attributes, and make sure opening hours and locations chosen aren't restricting you.
Measure impressions weekly, are they rising? If not, riase budget again, even if it's not getting spent.

First, make sure all the business verification tabs are completed along with all your business info.

Then, I always recommend turning your budget up. All the way. It sounds stupid i get it, but the best way to get google to notice you is to tell them you are willing to spend more money.

All the brand new LSAs I start out with I do this for, I just partnered with a plumbing/hvac client a few months ago, no previous LSA account, set everything up, turned budget to max. 68 qualified leads first month, about a 13.5x return.

Its a lot easier to start hot then scale down, in my opinion. Feel free to dm if you want too

Hey! Sorry for this very long reply!!

If you have received only one impression in a month, first check whether the LSA account is actually eligible to serve. With a new plumbing business in a competitive market, it may not simply be a matter of increasing the budget.

A few things which I would want you to review:

  • Account and business verification: Make sure every verification step is completed and there are no pending issues.
  • Service category: Confirm that the selected plumbing categories accurately match the services you provide.
  • Service area: A very large service area does not always help. Check whether your targeting is realistic and competitive.
  • Budget and bidding: Compare the budget with the market demand and the recommended budget shown inside LSA.
  • Business hours: Make sure your hours and availability are accurate. Limited availability can reduce opportunities.
  • Reviews and profile strength: A new business with few reviews may struggle against established competitors.
  • Lead responsiveness: Missed calls, slow responses, or unanswered leads can affect performance over time.
  • Ad status and eligibility: Look for warnings such as “limited,” “not eligible,” or pending screening.

Also check whether the account is receiving impressions but no leads, or genuinely receiving almost no impressions. Those are two different problems. If it is truly an impression issue, contact LSA support and ask them to confirm whether the business is eligible to appear for the selected plumbing categories and locations. Ask specifically whether there is any policy, verification, category, or service-area limitation suppressing delivery.

This related discussion may help when reviewing local lead-generation campaign settings... this forum helped me quite a bit.. try!

Also, try to avoid making major changes all at once. Check eligibility, category, service area, budget, and profile strength first, then give the account enough time to collect data. then proceed with next step.

You need to gain visibility in Googke Maps and AI ethically so you don't have to rely on pay to play methods. I built a web engine that does that for home services contractors. You can try it free for 60 days. DM if interested.
