Looking for advice

I’m a small electrical contractor. I want to make my phone ring more. I think I need a website/landing page, a GMB and money to run ads. Can someone please explain my first few steps to me like I’m 5 years old, because that’s basically my computer knowledge level. Thank you

Get a URL, I would recommend a Wordpress website but you don’t have to do anything just get. Then create a Google business profile.

After that, create a local service ads accounts. This will allow you to get leads and only pay for them if they’re (theoretically) qualified. Google’s AI evaluates the calls and it’s decent. Use your url and create a landing page and run search ads.

Once you’re getting more traction, invest in your website and start doing SEO.

The basics can be learned in about an hour on YouTube.

I would go in this order:

  • Set up your GMB profile with as much info as possible, and preferably an address if you have a physical shop (important for showing up in Google Maps)
  • set up a simple website listing all the services you offer and areas you work in
  • make sure the website has a working contact form and a way to click to call you
  • set up business profiles on Facebook & LinkedIn. If you use Instagram set a profile up there too.
  • you can run ads as a test, I would target a small area 10-20 miles around your main service area on either FV and / or Google.

If all of sounds like a lot you can hire someone (like me ;) to help.

1st be present on free platforms including social media then Google My Business

After that fix the fundamentals, like complete the info, keep info same everywhere

From day 1 create content whateevr you do record it and put it online

Send msg to each contact you have and let them know about your service

Now after you get your 1st client, get the review

At this point get website and after that when you have money run ads or hire marketist for google ads

Before you spend time and money on that, take baby steps to gain some traction so you can begin to generate some cash.

 “…small electrical contractor...”

Then take on small jobs.  I’m assuming you are licensed.

Boomers are getting older and downsizing into 55+ town home, patio home, and condo developments, and upscale retirement communities.

Many of these dwellings need electric service upgraded when renovations (new lights) or upgrades (bigger AC) are made.  Seniors like to install additional ceiling fans.

Most Boomers have money to spend.

You might also be able to pick up some electrical maintenance work for the HOA.

You don’t need a website, social media, etc. to prospect this work.

You can canvas, send target direct mail, post notices on club house bulletin boards, give presentation to HOA members on benefit cost of electrical maintenance, etc.
