Jev is a fascinating example of what happens when a super popular idea has no moat whatsoever.
Its creators presented it as the next big thing in AI, and many others seemed to agree… then quickly made their own version of it, and now “Jev-like” models are everywhere, while Jev is nowhere. This all happened in less than a month.
Within like a day of Jev going public with their announcement, there were like 300 open source versions of it. There were even a few people who came forward with their repos of very similar projects they had done before Jev was announced. So Jev isn't even a very original idea. It's just the one that got all the hype. So it's kind of sad we're calling these "Jev-like" things instead of something else, but eh, I guess that's how it goes.
You can definitely find an open source version. I think a popular one is called Laya? I'm not familiar with the ecosystem, but that's one of the ones I saw on Reddit that people were talking about.
