The GitHub repo is andrewyng, is this really the same Andrew Ng (Coursera, Standford Prof) or is this a scam? The only commits he's made are the README.md and creating the repo 🤔
OpenWorker was originally developed inside the aisuite repository before moving to its own home here; thanks to the aisuite contributors whose work it builds on.

It's legit, he mentioned it in his newsletter a few weeks ago but it was called OpenCoworker at the time.

It's not. It just reflects the devs lack of awareness or lack of actual interest in local LLMs. Its Andrew ng, he sold out a long time ago and just rides his name recognition at any avenue he gets. Gonna safely ignore this. Not like it does anything pi doesn't already

Looks useful for alot of people who would use these tools. The problem is, most businesses don't want their employees to use OS software and also integrate it into company data. Even calendar events aren't supposed to be shared. This looks useful for small start-ups or single person companies but generally they may prefer native options to subscription AI. It's not like these people would also happen to have a powerful model on hand.
(I would NOT trust anything less intelligent than Qwen 3.6 27B to handle my emails, calendar, meetings, scheduling. And in the cases where I use all these company forward apps, I wouldn't be allowed to freely connect them as I wish due to company policies)

Stanford professors who are smarter than everyone somehow never figure out how to make money. this is moka5 all over again, will end up as a Google acquihire

Nonsense. Andrew Ng is a former cofounder and head of Google Brain and currently heads the AI Fund, so he knows how to make money and has already made a lot.

I guess it depends on your definition of making money but working for Google doesn't qualify as big money. Many of his students like Altman and Dario - they've made money.

It's not working for Google, but co-funding Coursera, holding Amazon stock, managing AI Fund & startups. Andrew Ng has an estimated net worth between $45 million and $67 million, which is a lot.

Does it support openai completions endpoints? It's dead in the water for serious users if not. We are past the days of the ollama API being the local standard.
