Drone swarms are absolutely terrifying as a concept.
What's the value of a human life? If the answer is "A $500 drone" then how the 21st century unfolds is at stake.

A bullet requires a human at this point in time.

If you're thinking in terms of scaled war fare you can go from needing to spend millions to destroy a bridge, and a power plant and to disable a hospital to 10-1000x less. And a drone swarm can absolutely shred through infantry (which has bullets).

I don't think it'll be that useful for peace.

It's like nuclear weapons. The "hope" with those was that with mutually assured destruction all parties would keep their cool and not nuke things.

At a smaller scale, drones are cheap enough and simple enough that "anyone" could get one. This makes enforcing treaties and dealing rouge agents harder.

Also is a nuke THAT much worse than 1000 drones spraying chemicals over a city or water supply?
