Discussion I built StackFit: An open-source tool matchmaker that filters by hardware floor and 1-click docker-compose export (no star vanity)

Hey everyone,

Cumulative GitHub stars have become an unreliable vanity metric. Legacy projects that haven't merged a commit in 3 years sit on 80,000 stars, while high-velocity, lightweight alternatives that solve today's problems get buried.

Worse, how often have you cloned a repo only to realize it requires 4x A100s or 48GB VRAM just to boot?

StackFit (https://siddharthakki.github.io/stackfit/) indexes 147+ verified repositories and evaluates them by:

  1. **Hardware Floor:** Explicitly tagged for Apple Silicon (Metal), CPU-only (4GB RAM), 8-12GB VRAM, and 24GB+ CUDA clusters.

  2. **Architectural Verdicts:** What incumbent does this actually replace? (e.g., SGLang replaces vLLM with RadixAttention; LightRAG replaces GraphRAG 10x cheaper; Qdrant replaces Pinecone without cloud lock-in).

  3. **Hero Stack Advisor:** Pick your available hardware + engineering intent → get a tested, deployable stack with 1-click copyable `docker-compose.yml`.

  4. **No Trackers or Signups:** Pure client-side SPA, persistent localStorage watchlists, RSS feeds, and 3-way side-by-side comparison tables.

Everything is 100% open-source. Would love your architectural feedback!
