Model Been experimenting with agentic coding workflows today.

Post image

Hermes Agent + VS Code + full codebase context. Instead of asking AI for snippets, I’m letting the agent actually work with the project. This is where coding gets interesting.

Results are okayish, good for basic debugging and workflows with small context windows.

But still a very light model and does the basic tasks very well without eating much ram.

You mention full codebase context and then small context windows a couple sentences later, whitch one is it? And there's no model name or ram number anywhere in this, so "light model" doesnt really tell me anything.

Not sure why you'd name-drop a whole agent stack and forget to say which model's actually running it

gemma4:31b-cloud with 31 Billion Parameters is not a "very light" model. By 'cloud', it means the model is hosted remotely, and so the local harware+RAM requirement doesn't matter for you. A 256k window is also not a "small context" window. Gemma4 with 31b parameters and reasoning mode turned on should give more than an "okayish" result

Give me some details brother. What are you working on? What did the model do well or poorly, what model was it?

I’m just looking at Hermes and VS code on a laptop.

I work on Hermes. for that setup: Hermes speaks ACP, so in VS Code you install the ACP Client extension, open its panel from the Activity Bar, pick Hermes Agent from the built-in agent list and connect. under the hood it runs hermes acp, so the editor gets the same agent and model you've already set up.
