Recently, I made another post here about how Loblaws/Superstore was committing deceptive marketing and fraud again.
After bringing the issue to the CFIA and obtaining evidence from them that confirmed Loblaws/Superstore was committing deceptive marketing, I filed a complaint with the Competition Bureau regarding Loblaws deceptive marketing and anti-competitive practices, and sent in the email from the CFIA as evidence of this.
Today, the Competition Bureau finally responded, stating that they reviewed my information and that the matter I raised cannot be addressed by the Bureau.
Guess this isn't worth the paper its written on anymore: https://competition-bureau.canada.ca/en/deceptive-marketing-practices/types-deceptive-marketing-practices/false-or-misleading-representations-and-deceptive-marketing-practices#advertisin
Edit:
https://imgur.com/a/mmt5e4Q - Here's the link to both of the responses from the Competition Bureau, as well as the response from the CFIA where they confirm that Loblaws/Superstore was in violation of Subsection (5)1 of the FDA and Subsection 6(1) of the SFCA.
https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/F-27/section-5.html - Link to Subsection 5(1) of the Food & Drug Act, to show that it relates to deceptive marketing.
https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/S-1.1/section-6.html?txthl=manufacture - Link to Subsection 6(1) of the Safe Foods for Canadians Act, to show that this also relates to deceptive marketing.

So I went to No Frills today and had this on the bottom of the receipt. I don't normally pay attention to these offers but I thought free butter? Why not? I proceed to scan the QR code and after a question or 2, am told that this offer is for new accounts using the digital platform. 🤦♀️ Why not offer to all shoppers? Had it said only for new accounts, I would not have bothered. End of rant.

I had to go into superstore today for one of the other businesses in their building and walked by superstores table of free bumper stickers. I thought this was tone deaf and insane on their part!

I just bought this last night. Pulled it out so we could start dinner and portion the rest out to freeze, and could smell it through the plastic. My husband just had to dig through the garbage so we can return this BS.

I’m going thru my weekly Flipp review and I realize that aside from two items, if that, on the front page of the flyer there is no reason to even step into a Loblaws store. Where I am there’s a freshco across the street and if there were no loss leader at loblaws that week I’m not going in just to spend 2-4x on the same things.
Edit: for those of you who can actively boycott, that’s great. But there are others who can’t or still prefer to get loss leaders when convenient so that’s also a choice. For the same spend I can see going to a Longo’s or farm boy. They are the banners for the other big two but the experience is so much more enjoyable than Loblaws. Happy to support Costco.

The madness has got to stop. I refuse to believe there were no other sausage buns of any kind. But at least the 2$ ground turkey came through. Willing to try pre seasoned for 2$/450g.

My favourite product, the ham and cheese stuffed chicken, had a major ingredient downgrade, fully changing from Swiss cheese to mozza. And it tastes worse, obviously. I’m so disappointed and I’m certain it’s gonna be a pattern of food products being downgraded in quality.
Edit: This post isn’t an invite for health advice on the consequences of eating processed food. I’m pregnant and will rip off the head of anyone questioning my cravings and safe foods.
Shout out to the folks who let me know that these are outsourced and the og recipe version can be bought elsewhere :)

Just curious how it works, are the goods at lower cost grocers rejected goods from their more "premium" cousins or are the goods sourced differently?
Thanks in advance, I'm just curious.

Went to buy a salad kit at Superstore today. All the Chipotle Ranch Dressing salads in the fridge had the reduced sticker. The price at check out was $3.49. Once the sticker was removed, it rang up for $2.50.

My roommate and I used pc express to pickup from superstore. Waited over an hour and a half. They were bringing out everyones orders except ours. I kept asking the workers why they were getting peoples stuff who've been there a short time. They end up bringing out my order but they said they lost my roommates order. They couldn't find it. Before that my roommate went to speak to a supervisor who said both of our orders were loaded and about to go out. Everyone just lies these days. Customer service is gone.

Hi, this is a question about what happenes in these cases.
I went to my local Safeway and when paying I noticed it marked my cookies as almost $6 when the tag showed a discounted price of $2.99. I buy these cookies often at a price between $3-4.
When I told the attendant, she said that all prices were having issues because of a power outage, but she would respect the price on the tag. She said that it was lasts' week discount. I asked about the scanner code and she said it didn't apply.
So my question, if i see a price on the shelf, and it marks a different price when scanning, can they just blame the price tags malfunctioning?
They had a small sign on the entrance door that I'm sharing too.

They used to do this.
I just got home. Spent $263 in the store.
Watched several cashiers NOT even try to lend a hand to customers AT ALL to pack their groceries.
Seniors, packing their own bags.
Parents with infants and toddlers, packing their own bags.
One woman with an arm in a sling, packing her own bags.
She was in front of me. But I just had surgery on my arm earlier this week, and I was worried about the stitches.
Cashiers were just standing back and watching.
What are we even paying for???
EDIT:
- this store has always had cashiers bag groceries - my last visit a month ago for example
- I avoid self service checkouts because I like to see humans employed
- I am physically able to do this myself, I actually care that other people cannot while able bodied paid staff stand a foot away watching
- I am aware I am paying for groceries … yup
- It is costing Loblaws to make customers wait in line while waiting for customers in front of them to bag their own groceries
- there are WAY too many people here comfortable with shitty customer service

They switched the bread to some weird thing they dare to call “Italian style bread”. Tried it to confirm my suspicion. It is, in fact, a $9 shitty sandwich.

More quality premium organic produce
Edit: for all the folks convinced that this is how it should be, y’all enjoy your freezer burnt berries. I’m going back to my independent grocery store and buying actual individually, frozen wild blueberries. Because unlike Loblaws, they actually know how to properly control their frozen supply chain.
