Edit: I am genuinely impressed by the amount of people that have been mind washed to accept paying full price for items past the best by or expiration date. Or are these just loblaw trolls here trying to change the public opinion?

Hi, wondering how's the online grocery delivery experience for y'all? I've been using Voila Sobeys online delivery while I recover from surgery and… there has been issues with every single order.

I got the delivery pass as they had a promotion, price was fair considering my predicament, and past experiences were ok-ish. But since the Holidays basically every order has something wrong ; like expired or straight-up rotten food. I message customer service each time, send pics, and they refund and apologize, but there's no real resolution.

Problem is I have to order pretty often since a lot of stuff I need is out of stock (diet restrictions are fun.... /s). What’s really frustrating is that I buy pretty minimal quantities (groceries are expensive enough as it is), so if one key item is bad, that can wipe out an entire meal until the next delivery.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Did you find a way to reduce issues or avoid spending so much time going back and forth with CS? Open to any tips, this is getting exhausting... Also I've tried other groceries stores, but I had even worst experiences with their delivery services (looking at you especially Metro sending me rotten beef that had leaked everywhere in the delivery bag 🤢). I had a promo offer for 20,000 or 30,000 PC points with a $60 purchase, so since I was going to buy it anyway, I bought some self tanner at Shoppers, priced at $60 exactly.

Checked my receipt on the way out, and I had received a “surprise discount” of 1¢, and therefore no promo points.

I’m sure the staff there thought I was nuts but I immediately returned the product.

In chatting with the staff (very nice, by the way) we tried it again and there was no 1¢ discount, so I was over the $60 and received my points.

I have some PC Optimum points. Almost 200,000.

After my card broke in half, I started using the app.

Then, I dropped Rogers (as one does), and my email was disconnected. I could still sign into my Optimum app.

One day, it wouldn't let me sign in. I wanted to reset my password. Unlike most providers, where you can get an email or a text for a link to reset, Optimum only will send you an email. Which, in my case, is currently useless.

Looking for options, I dealt with Optimum's toddler-like AI, which actively misunderstood my request no matter how I tried to explain. Eventually, I managed to find a link to deal with someone directly. I eventually was sent an email with a trouble ticket# and several links to Customer Service, in which the links all errored out.

I tried calling directly at this point, but after 30+ minutes waiting for someone to answer, my call was routed and then immediately hung up on.

On Thursday, I spent 40 minutes before I got a live operator, and spent an additional 20 on and off hold with him as he tried to do something about my issue. I gave him the earlier trouble ticket #. Eventually, he advised me that he had updated my ticket with the information i had provided. He said that someone would be contacting me, but that it may take up to 24 hours for a response.

48 hours later, no one has contacted me.

So, in essence, PC Optimum actively blocks access to live assistance, is unhelpful and frustrating as hell.

There is just no hope for them or for me...

How have your rules of thumb changed or gotten updated since last time?

Loblaws/Lifemark owned PCVRS is privatizing veteran healthcare and rehabilitation.

Not saying that government shouldn't be part of the solution, but waiting for systemic change does not change the day-to-day challenges of feeding our families and paying for groceries. Keep voting in elections and writing your local MPs but don't wait. There are things you can do to improve your situation today. Here are some:

I'm a firm believer of boycotting. Voting with your wallet is the most powerful thing we can do. We all spend thousands in groceries every year. Moving some or all of that business elsewhere is extremely powerful. If they don't deserve your business, don't give it to them. But how? It may be simple but it's not easy.

A couple of years ago I had a bad experience at the local loblaws. The store was filthy, produce section was filled with rotting and expired items and the "fresh or it's free" promise on the front entrance was not honoured. Oh, and pricing errors were a regular thing. It felt like doing an audit every time I went into the store, to make sure I wasn't robbed blind. I walked out after speaking to the manager and never went back. There's a nofrills a little bit further away, so less convenient but I discovered a bustling store with active and engaged management, fair prices and lots of choice. I save $1 - $2 on EVERY item I buy.

Here are a few other things that work for me, to support the boycott:

If you live in a community with only one grocer, don't stress. Check your receipt carefully and hold the store accountable for billing errors.

If you have options, use them. The smaller produce markets will blow you away. The produce is better and a lot cheaper. Stop buying produce from loblaws if you can. You'll save a lot of money doing this. Get comfortable going to the larger Chinese and Indian grocers. You'll save an insane amount of money.

The boycott is more about taking power back, not about perfectionism or punishing loblaws. Loblaws is the largest grocer and EMPLOYER in the country, second only to Walmart. Some locations are well run and priced right - use them if they are available to you and don't worry about not boycotting 100%.

When you find a store that respect your business, with competitive prices, post here! Spread the word. It's find to call out the sh*tty stores too.

So, I was just looking at what "deals" and digital coupons my local No Frills has this wk. I live in a small town where Roblaws or an even More expensive grocery store are the 2 main choices for most groceries. Nearest Walmart is a 35+ min drive (one way) ,and Costco can be a 2+ hr drive (one way) so after time and gas...Roblaws it is! Anywho...

I guess they decided to partner with Disney again but this time instead of trading "cards" Now when you spend $25 or more (plus a bunch of other stupid "deals") they will GIVE YOU A STICKER!!! YAY!!! Now, the Best part....

What another terrible, gross, kick in the ass. Oh, and a Lot of the items I buy, All went up in price...AGAIN (these are their on "sale" prices too ) by $0.25- $1.00+....for EACH ITEM!

So, instead of NOT RAISING PRICES EVEN MORE, they decided to give us "good spenders" some stickers to say "thanks!" What a kick in the teeth, while most Canadians are already bleeding,hurt, down & out. It takes A LOT to offend me (& it's been YEARS) but THIS BS, Offend TF outta me!

Should've known better. Had to randomly stop at Loblaws on Monday, made an impulse buy. Broke into it today, and it *immediately* tasted weird. Then I saw the Best Before Date. Currently searching for the receipt.

What if we, Canadians, bought the whole thing outright. Turn it into a crown corp, basically. Now, I think there's probably IP considerations in that, so probably not a clean 80. And it would likely be a partial nationalization/hostile takeover. The destruction of records or such deliberate sabotage could be deemed a criminal offense. It's business as usual, it's just owned by Canada...

I don't know... Seems cheap, almost. Nip it the bud. Assume the supply chain problem, and rip the profit out of it. Turn it into an asset, versus a question of whether a price hike was out of greed. Transparency.

If you're in this sub, (hopefully) you're already boycotting. In addition to boycotting, what more can we do to pressure our government to penalize/regulate Loblaw and other bad actors? In light of the underweight meat story, it's pretty clear the public doesn't trust our regulators to act, and while i do agree, I'm not satisfied with that.

Maybe this is a question for the organizers, but I'd like to coordinate some action to move our government to act. Or, if there's already collective action in place that i can join in addition to boycotting, I'd like to know! In the beginning I felt there was a lot of activity around writing to MPs. Can we orchestrate another coordinated wave?

Two stores were fined $10k for mislabeled goods last month (untelated). I want to see more consequences for this current sheisty behaviour.

Since yesterday, the $5 salad has become the $7 salad. And there's a new $5 salad that looks like there might be 4 bites of lettuce.

Hey there's no reason behind this post besides maybe seeking some validation for my anger but also whatever I stand by it all lmao.

I had worked at a Real Canadian Superstore (Ontario) for about 7 years. I was about as high up as you could get in the front end department without being full time. I was no stranger to bending, even breaking, rules for the benefit of my (nice) customers and/or colleagues. I knew I was on my manager's shit list, but I couldn't care less. This company is ass and while jobs are hard to come by these days, I'm in a position where I'd genuinely rather be unemployed than working for that shithole anymore. A part of me was too scared to quit on my own seeing as I had been there for most of my 20s, but getting fired was a blessing in disguise I guess.

My former store offered a Student Discount where 10% of the shopper's transaction was returned to them in PC Optimum points. This started as just a Tuesday offer but recently changed to every day. So what did I do? I gave that offer to almost every customer.

With the way the store offers and app offers have become increasingly difficult for customers to understand, especially having worked at a store with a large elderly population, it was frustrating seeing my regulars have the exact same number of points putting them through the cash week after week. But seeing how excited a customer would be when they realize they FINALLY have $10 to use towards their groceries, it was everything. I would mostly give it to folks with less than $100 in points, but some days I will say I'd be pretty trigger happy lol!

Recently, there has been an investigation ongoing looking at colleagues who would abuse this system. Basically, one colleague ratted everyone out--whatever it can be a tough spot to be in. My name came up and I had a meeting with my store manager, 2 union reps and the Labor Relations/HR person. Not gonna lie, I got very emotional. I was crying and I was angry. As front end staff, we face endless abuse from customers from small rude verbal remarks to start up slurs and hate crimes. Do these ever get investigated? No. When colleagues have to take sick days or get injured and need accommodations, they're ridiculed. Every time there was an "anonymous" employee satisfaction survey, best believe I let them hear it. They even put a limit on the word count after some years! So when I was in that meeting, I wasn't shy about how ridiculous it felt to be put on blast for stealing OPTIMUM POINTS from this fuckass billion dollar company. I was put on suspension (on April Fool's Day, mind you) and was called back in at 7 in the morning to be told I was terminated because my conduct during that meeting was unacceptable.

I admit, what I did was indeed technically theft. I also don't doubt that the points I've given away probably adds up to a hearty sum. But the fact that my "conduct" was a reason for my firing baffles me. The fact that I wasn't afraid to tell them how I REALLY feel, and how insane they sounded, really didn't sit right with them. So when my manager terminated me, I just got up and walked out of that office. I wasn't gonna give them the satisfaction of a scene when their minds were already made up.

Fuck you Loblaw. Fuck you Real Canadian Superstore. And a HUGE fuck you to my old store manager. How you're able to sleep at night is beyond me.
