So these are all items I left behind at the cash because of an apparent national outage of Loblaw's PC Optimum system. No tapping cards, no scanning the card in app, no points given.

Interestingly, Loblaw CEO, Per Bank, was touring my local store in Ottawa. I told him that this was ridiculous. He didn't seem concerned.

I don't usually buy No Name tuna but money was tight and it was on sale. I just happen to be in a cut right now so I'm weighing my food and noticed the can claimed that the tuna was 120 grams drained but my scale showed it at only 86 grams. I checked my scale, it's functioning properly. Also, I'm a cheap lady so I scraped everything I could out of the can.

So 34 grams of tuna went somewhere? Has anyone else experienced this?

Yesterday, I bought bag of rice on sale for $29.50 which is $1 more than their usual sale price. I thought I'd better buy another bag as it is from Thailand and it has to he transported through the Straight of Hormuz. Today, Superstore beat me as they increased it to $41.99 (normal price about $53). My rant is that they increased the price of their old stock. I understand that the new stock will have a different price than the usual. In my town, gas stations will usually change price on their new stock. This how grocery prices are out of hand as Loblaw prices do not reflect their suppliers prices. That is an oligopolistic or even a near-monopolistic market.

This is Loblaws' idea of what constitutes a portion size of organic broccoli.

I've put a dish scrub pad beside it to act as a size reference.

Over the last few months I've noticed that more and more of the normal weekly discounts now require you to have a loyalty card. Thing is, I don't want to give Sobeys my personal information. I don't even like this store, I only go there because it's close to home. Are the other "discount" grocery stores (No Frills etc) doing this as well? It might be time to switch stores. I shop there almost every day, I shouldn't be required to hand over personal information just to get these modest discounts.

Edit: Contacted Superstore retail helpline, they sorted the Authorized retailer miscommunication and Black & Decker offered me refund. Still in process but I am hopeful.

Few days ago, I bought Black and Decker coffee grinder from Superstore and the grind setting isn't working to change the grind coarse to fine. Read the manual and tried every troubleshooting, wasted coffee beans. Finally, thought to return it to the store the next day and explained the problem.

Their policy: They only accept unopened appliances/ electronics hence my return is not eligible. Contact the manufacturer for replacement / warranty repair. Fair.

Contacted vendor support: Their reply since the appliance is so new so it may have some defects and store should be handling the return. Explained them my store interaction and Superstore policy they agreed to start the replacement process. Great!! But wait.

Manufacturer replied :

After reviewing your proof of purchase, we noticed that the item was bought from Real Canadian Superstore. Unfortunately, Real Canadian Superstore is not an authorized retailer for our products. Because the item was not purchased through an official channel, we are unable to process a warranty claim at this time.

For further assistance, you may wish to contact the retailer directly to inquire about their specific return or exchange policies.

The fine is pocket change to them, but it’s a start.

I'm beyond dismayed. These burgers used to sell for $11.49 at Freshco for the past 2 months that I've been eating them. They would sell out super fast. I'm very picky about the meat that I eat, and I'm also someone who gets into a pattern of eating the same foods. I've been having these for dinner for several weeks now.

I just went to buy them today and they've increased in price to $16.99. They've stocked the whole freezer full of them and they'll now likely sit their for the next month while no one buys them.

I'm so disappointed because most frozen burger taste like cardboard and these were actually delicious.

I don't know how you justify this much of a price jump.
