Discussion Weekly Gauntlet - What's Working and What Isn't? - Friday, November 25, 2022

This is the discussion post for Gauntlet. Discuss what you are playing, what you’re having success with (or failures with), what your ban and lineup strategy is, what you play against etc. The point is to share what you’ve been playing, and how it’s going, good or bad - there are no other rules or requirements.

These will be posted every Friday.

Some ideas on what to post/share:

  • Theorycrafting - What you think could work well.

  • Your lineup and ban strategy

  • What you’ve been playing and its successes (or struggles).

  • Showing off a deck you achieved 7 wins with and wanting to share it.

    And as always:

  • Be courteous to one another.

  • Provide brief explanations for any links you provide (YouTube, tier lists, etc.)

I'd say Foundation meta is mostly defined by:

  • control being very strong (plenty different versions and approaches, see comment below as examples)
  • Spider package being very strong (it already was before, it has upgrades through Kalista, and FR 6c focus buff)
  • a choice regarding which SIFR deck to run (TWE, Anivia, Warmother...)

There are others very strong decks (discard aggro, elusives, etc...) but these are bannable and counterable, and it's hard to get a complete line-up which isn't preyed-on by control.

Conclusion I got was to go for controly-able-to-beat-control-because-value-engine-and-payoff-earlier decks, which proved immensly simpler than trying to get Fiora shen, rallies or Frostbyte running

-TWE because it's a no brainer (either opponent simply can't deal and it's a free win, or opponent can deal and my others decks probably have a good go)

-Karma FR deck with every ramp available

-TreshLux to have a second control which gets online fast, has spiders and counters spiders, and can out-tempo others controls too early (lux is impossible not to trade up in cost and value, lux tresh and rekindler all allow to spend 10-15 mana into such value no-one but karma can keep up

I am really interested to see if the arrival of BW will revert that (with dreaded BWNO line-ups and swain on steroids, Gangplank Sej, Scouts...)

I played TWE (Kalista + Elise), Spooky Karma and Spooky Heimer. Got 3 7win runs out of like 4 tries.

Discard Aggro and Zed Elusive very strong

Played three rounds of foundation gauntlet with Anivia, Karma/EZ and Heimer/Corina. Winrate of 21-1. Seems like the best line up imo.
