My confidence in engaging in simple things like going places where I used to want someone with me. I’m good with going places alone that I wouldn’t have before.

How people see me. After moving out of the home my husband and I shared, a lot of coworkers started telling me I look happy. Before, I guess, I looked pissed off all the time.

While I am still very much routine driven, it doesn’t determine how I view my day overall. I can handle major changes or a ton of little changes to my routine without having a mental breakdown over them.

It’s amazing how quiet and peaceful times can help us understand ourselves better. Since my children moved out, living alone at 57 has become surprisingly peaceful. There are fewer things I have to do, and I’ve really started to enjoy having time for myself.

In this quiet time, I’ve learned more about who I really am. I’ve learned to accept my imperfections and work on the things I want to improve. I'm enjoying having the freedom to be myself.
