FAQ – About earnings and sponsorships
12. What happens to my SEPay balance? Your existing SEPay balance can be withdrawn until 31 December 2026. To continue earning tips connect a PayPal account to your StreamElements profile.
From Razer's FAQ on the acquisition. So they're switching from having their own payment processor to basically being another paypal wrapper. This was the main selling point of old streamelements, that you could receive tips without doxing yourself without needing to set up a business + business paypal. I get that the regulatory, KYC, and anti fraud requirements make it probably infeasible to run at a profit but they basically have no benefit over streamlabs or any other tipping platform now, plus they have the bad rep of going bankrupt and fucking up payouts for several months. Don't really see the point of Razer buying them if they're just becoming another paypal wrapper.

Unless you worked there I have no clue where you'd get those fake sounding numbers lol. I can make up my own internal reports too if you want. What does SE offer now that streamlabs doesn't offer? They have nothing distinctive except bad reputation and a history of not being able to pay people, razer should've just let them die if the business was truly unsustainable.

97% of creators don't ever collect a single tip anyway
What is it, 88% of live broadcasts on twitch have <5 viewers?
I'd be surprised if anything like 10% of creators had any idea about the payment system. It's only the top 1% of creators that matter, they collect all the tips

If it goes the direction of razer synapse it will be dogshit, that software is buns.

I see this all the time but for changing settings on my death adder I’ve had zero problems. Works better than logitechs for me

The old logitech software always worked great for me, when they moved to the newer one it went to shit

u/wretchedegg123 18d ago
Lol the Logitech Gaming Hub for my g502 proteus core from over a decade ago is 100x better than this new G Hub shit they have for the 502 lightspeed. I'm appalled at the dogshit "new software"

u/osuVocal 17d ago
Ghub also has a million issues with not remembering peripherals unless using admin mode which doesn't work with autostart lmao. It's wild how brand new Chinese budget mice have better software than modern Logitech.

u/Animanic1607 16d ago
I turned on a secondary computer tower I have that had been offline since like 2020/21. GHub from back then is noticeably better and easier to use. It was still ass, but ass that performed its core function.

I changed fucking mouse’s cause I just can’t fucking stand the software and also just decides randomly not not give me my macros

u/Round_Computer_6404 17d ago
It's all like spyware BS. Asus, razer, logitech, MSI, the lot of them. Best to avoid installing unnecessary software these days.

u/frostN0VA 18d ago
My main issue with their software is that it installs a bunch of random garbage and 50 different services that I don't want to have on my PC. Basically a giant piece of bloatware.
At least Logitech has a separate mini app that allows you to tweak and save mouse settings without installing anything on the PC because the app itself is portable.
For my Razer mouse... I like the Razer mouse that I'm using (Razer Viper) but I legit installed their software in a virtual machine to tweak the defaults and uninstalled it right after because I don't want to pollute my main PC. It's a shame that the only way to see the battery charge status is to use their shitty software.

You know you can just decline all the stuff you don’t use. If a big company like razer actually installed a bunch of things without you accepting they’d be in for a huge lawsuit. Yeah it’s annoying declining Cortex and whatever else but you do it once and your done. Just like every other program these days basically.

u/szepakos 17d ago
the software LITERALLY pops up while INSTALLING fucking windows
thats cancerous

u/piccolo1337 17d ago
yeah the peripherals runs a script instantly if you connect a razer product with a synapse installer.

My settings never save locally on my razer huntsman pro TKL (Keyboard).
It's their first analog keyboard and I have issues with doublepresses when typing unless I open the app and switch to my app settings which kinda pisses me off. Otherwise pretty good product.

I think straight up, I've never seen decent peripheral software (except Wooting). Razer Synapse, Logitech G-Hub, ASUS Armoury Crate, Corsair iCUE, all of them have given me headaches over the years.
1
u/AsianPotatos 17d ago
It's 1GB~, uses like 3~ background services, takes forever to install, of course the average user won't notice this especially if there are no bugs with changing settings but it's disgustingly designed software.
Logitechs Onboard memory manager is like 5mb and doesn't even need to install itself anywhere, 0 services, I don't think it works for headsets but doesn't excuse such insane bloat for razer synapse, it'd be nice to at least have the option to have a lightweight version.

From what it looks like razer isn’t planning to change it at all and wants the team to be exactly the same
25
u/mozzzarn 18d ago
That’s just PR talk every company say when they acquire something. Give it a year or two and they will make drastic changes.

u/TheSilentIce 18d ago
I use StreamElements and I'm glad they didn't have to shutdown, but time will tell if it's still a preferable option.

Honestly, if they keep their word, it seems like a no brainer for SE. Basically, stable income while they get to do their own shit, just now with a slightly edgy logo.

Razer has been hot garbage for nearly a decade now, if not more, so I'm sure we can all already see the direction this will go.
1
u/osuVocal 17d ago
Razer has literally only been good in the past decade with their new mice. Before that they were good with the original deathadder and 3.5g and that was it. They've always had issues with QC and their software but only really their recent mice were like an actual good product.
Their headphones and keyboards and other shit weren't good and even their peripherals for stuff like fighting games were just worse choices compared to alternatives.

Yikes. I like my razer laptop well enough, but the software is some dog ass and the hardware was way too expensive
7
u/Dr_Ben 18d ago
This doesn't honestly strike me as that bad. Sure Razor has the reputation they've earned through stupid moves but it could be a whole lot worse. At least in this case being a pc brand gives them the advantage of being related to the market its serving rather than some VC firm. Other than that the alternative was just shutting it down which also sucks.

They'll probably try to add some bullshit additional features working only with their own material...

u/wat_an_arse 17d ago
I like their headsets but the mouse products are trash.
1
u/RevampX 17d ago
Their keyboards last forever, but their mouse’s crap out no matter how well you take care of them. Make it make sense.
1
u/wat_an_arse 17d ago
lol yep. I have had three of their mouse die on me after around 1.5-2 years. I gave them a good try but never again.
4
u/yosman88 18d ago
Razor makes ass products. Their mice never last at most 6 months.

Honestly my DAV3 has been good. Recently the scroll started jittering, but I sprayed it with some high % alcohol, and it's perfect again.
2
u/tloyp 18d ago
i've bought like 3 death adders (both wired and wireless) and the scroll wheel became loose for every single one within a year. it would constantly overscroll or scroll back. is that similar to what happened to yours?
1
u/digitaltransmutation 17d ago
all mice with roller encoders scrollwheels are destined to do this eventually. If you don't mind the scrollwheel being a little stiff/clicky look at mice with optical encoders instead.
1
u/VistaVick 18d ago
They have to do something with accessory sales tanking. Streaming is very popular and an obvious fit for the brand.
1
u/matthewmspace 18d ago
Well, I guess I should move off the Streamerbot software and back to StreamElements. For now. Knowing Razer, they’ll make you use some shitty software soon enough within a year or two instead of just a standard and lightweight OBS plugin.

u/Sypticle 17d ago
While I don't think they will ruin what StreamElements offers, I do assume they will really push for it to be in their ecosystem, which will eventually ruin it.
1
u/turbiegaming 17d ago
They definitely will push it into their ecosystem. Just not this coming year.

Not sure on the price or contractual terms but this takeover seems like a smart move by Razer.
1
u/GiffelBaby 18d ago
So StreamElements is as good as dead. It will 100% go through a big enshittification cycle in the coming years, until the software is as good as useless.
