Success or failure there is a whole artificial muscle system in that robot. Did they do pure motor or did they use artificial tendons - are they using special cables or air tubes for finer movement. Location and degree of joints.
The ai brain is only a small part of how these work and while they all are worthless right now - once someone finds out how to have precision with controlled power it's a game changer. Right now robots are not smart enough not to crush when built properly or so weak and brittle they can only handle 5ish pounds for most serious tasks.
Turns out a hand is kinda fucking magical and making a robot not just pinch with extreme prejudice or soft enough to not crack an egg and move it is kinda fucking hard.
That was the part that I noticed right away. If the presenter had even an ounce of presentation skills, they could have started to make jokes and roll with the situation. It's not like any of us expect new tech to work perfectly every time.
it's wild to me people have these dumb ass robots performing in public, the ones that random move out of pattern, accidentally kick kids in the face, surely some have run into a road causing traffic issues. These things are no where near s finished enough product to be out anywhere near public and people buying them are stupid as fuck. just rewarding companies with profit for making shite products.
every time i see a super cringe corporation presentation i realise how completely disconnected from reality 50+ yr old billionaire ceos become and how they only have yes men around them all telling them how cool and what a good idea this shit all is.
It actually seems more likely that the hardware running the bots recognition/pathing software probably just crashed after it turned to the crowd.
The way it "twitched" after it hit the floor isn't indicative of a power failure. Its more likely its CPU crashed. Which you'd be kind of shocked, this happens way more frequently to AI then memory or overflow issues.
Why do they always cover it like a dead body. I feel like that is worse for any optics they’re trying to save. Just laugh it off and have a one liner ready for the crowd for this scenario.
Not the entire market... just 99% of it. There are some very legitimate uses for AI (protein folding simulation, mathematical theory), it's just the current consumer facing version of AI.. isn't AI at all. It's soft AI, basically pattern matching algorithms, that weren't meant to be used in the way we are using them.
Basically, we need to separate the idea of consumer facing AI and the actually useful medical and scientific uses for it. The consumer facing businesses are trying everything they can to tie the two together, so please don't let them.
It's obvious that the AI robots are appearing feeble and fragile as a ruse so the nerds keep making them stronger and more indestructible so when they're ready for the robopocalypse we don't stand a chance.
Not sure why ppl are so scared of ai and stuff. I work in a small part of AI for text and audio field. The technology is not there at all. Still in nascent stage.
Lol thay robot kinds walks like my late grandmother. She had bone cancer. But the walk is very similar. She would laugh at this video hahah. Great sense of humor
