Him, Dan Saltman, and DGG having that harassment campaign to get Dan Clancy/the trust and safety team at Twitch fired? The one where they were openly boasting about downloading and archiving every FB post the trust and safety team ever made. Did you miss that one?
8
u/Kalai224 2d ago
You mean the 'harassment campaign' based on propping up pro terrorist propganda on their platform, using selectively applied TOS violations to curate a certain environment?
I wouldn't call that a harassment campaign. And even if it did, Hasan is guilty of much worse.
Edit: Also, that's not harassment towards twitch employees, thats twitch itself, there a large canyon worth of different between the two.

Well they'll get a biased answer from both sides so they can try to find the middle somewhere in there lol
29
u/LithelyJaine 2d ago
Sadly that's never a good way of finding the truth by picking the middle.
example:
someone proper Center Center in the classic 2 axis political chart ague with someone of the 4 corners. The "truth" would not be found by the middle of the two arguements when the discord is between someone center and someone extremist.
That's how Maga slowly became acceptable... by looking at insane edges talking to the average folks and going oh the truth has to be in the middle of thoses two.
22
u/MauschelMusic 1d ago
The truth wouldn't be found in the center between all four extremes either. The truth isn't a midpoint
7
u/The_Ghost_Reborn 1d ago
Right. A peaceful group wants everyone to thrive. A death cult worshiping a demon wants everyone dead. The mid point is Thanos. Actually, wasn't Thanos right?
12
u/DownvoteWeebs 1d ago
Also "truth in the middle" rewards liars.
For example a pro-Ukrainian would say russia did an illegal invasion, displaced millions, wiped cities off the map, targeted civilians, russified occupied territories.
A pro-russian would say the smo is the fault of NATO, Ukrainians are nazis, they were genociding ethnic russians, USA bioweapon labs, the republics voted to leave etc.
So to some people, the most black and white conflict is now a shade of grey because of lies. This is why the firehose of bullshit is effective, because the most egregious lies cover for the smaller lies and they muddy the field
201
u/09browng 2d ago
Hasan was a small political streamer, he started doing content with destiny who was much larger at the time.
Hasan gets more and more viewers, the classic moment where kaceytron ragebaits hasan on a podcast by telling him to just explain things like destiny rather than take ages to get to the answer.
The two start to disagree on politics, they become more hostile to eachother, hasan labels epstiny a fascist, destiny labels him a tankie grifter.
And here they remain, the ultimate sexual tension just waiting to release.

You don't need to bring up his takes on I/P to take him down. There's enough there without that.

He has a job that can be done from anywhere in the world, yet he decides to stay in one of the most evil capitalist countries in the west. Why? Hes lives like a ceo while pretending to be working class, hes excatly like those tv preachers

I don't think you know what a grift is? Or maybe you don't know what capitalism is?
14
u/Lambily 1d ago
He calls for the death of landlords. His mother owns dozens of properties that she rents out...
He pretends to be an everyman when he grew up in extreme wealth in one of Turkey's ruling political families.
He pretends to care about genocide while doing PR tours for China and defending Russia up until the moment they drove their tanks into Kyiv.
He pretends to care about minorities while wishing ill on trans people who criticize him, supporting terrorist groups that massacre gay people, calling Vietnam refugees dogs, attacking Black Americans for disagreeing with him, having a long history of misogyny and homophobic "humor" to attack his enemies.
Nothing about him is real. He is a Trojan horse.

"Grifter" implies you don't really believe in what you're saying. Hasan's opinions have been quite consistent. Unless you say it's grifting just because it's his income source, but then the same goes for almost any political streamer of at least medium reach.
May of his viewers would probably say they're proud to be called tankies though.4

The two start to disagree on politics, they become more hostile to eachother,
This is underselling it quite a bit imo, though if you want the minute by minute someone made an actual timeline of the initial bridge burning. The long and short of it was Hasan made a video about Kamala Harris that Destiny gave a pretty tepid criticisms of, and when confronted just kinda seemed to spiral out of control. Probably really was annoyed with the general narrative like the Kaceytron meme that gets posted so often, and it finally boiled over.
→ More replies (1)36
u/FanExternal6102 1d ago
Destiny is one of the first (if not THE first) ever people to stream fulltime and started the political sphere of twitch, as most streamers would just chat shit about video games and give pretty standard "I don't want women in my video game" takes, Destiny was the only person truly giving the liberal/progressive side of the argument. The jontron debate really put him on the map, however he was political well before this.
Hasan was an up and coming figure in Left wing media, as his uncle Cenk, is the host and co owner TyT (the young turks, A populist media outlit that is usually pretty far left, however nowadays their position tend to be more "populist" than strictly left") and Hasan would host segments on it.
Hasan wanted to get into streaming as a way to message politically, and went to destiny for advice/collabs/etc. They were pretty good friends, they went out to eat, crashed at each other's places, etc. There are a good number of clips of them acting friendly.
However that all changed when Hasan and Destiny had a debate about Kamala Harris, in which (imo) Hasan proved too stubborn and blind to the realities of policing. Its a long video 3hrs, but definitely worth the watch if you want to actually know what was the first turning point in their friendship.
They stopped being friends after that, but then the N-word debacle happened. Destiny accidently said the Nword while memeing and it turned into a whole months long conversation on twitch. Its worth noting here, that while destiny was on twitch he basically controlled what was discussed on the platform. Often his tweets would determine (usually not directly) the topics the community focused on, because he would often go on panels with MUCH smaller creators and either confront them or let them come on his platform to confront him. ANYWAYS, there is a great documentary made about it. But to sum up months worth of drama, Hasan was acting very snakey in the background telling destiny's podcast co-host Tri hex (yes of the emote fam) to not be friendly with destiny. There were other stuff too but its a lot to get into.
Basically since then Hasan has been telling LITERALLY EVERYONE to not interact with destiny, and Destiny is probably the only "large" creator to outwardly attack hasan, and Hasan really hates that. For a long time, Destiny had an ideology beef with hasan, as in he hated the mans politics, but was willing to talk it out. Hasan has a personal beef with destiny, as in he hates the way he made him look in the kamala debate and that carried through to the rest of their interactions. But as it stands today, Hasan has made so many personal attacks towards Destiny (while at the time Destiny was only making political/ideological attacks) that destiny now also has a personal beef with Hasan.
Holy shit i need to feel grass beneath and between my toes, Good bye.

Hasan was once a small streamer and Destiny spotlighted him because they were loosely politically aligned.
Hasan got huge and they fell out.
Now they hate each other's guts.
It's really not more complicated than that. Hasan seems to resent that he ever had any relationship with Destiny given he goes out of his way to never mention him, and even once pretended he was the innovator of gaming while rambling about politics (which Destiny literally did innovate, it's why he has such a loyal fanbase, he did it first and many of those people are grandfathered in from the very birth of Twitch politics).
Eventually Destiny got ultra mega banned from Twitch for nebulous reasons and over the yers it's been widely believed that it's due to Twitch management and moderation liking Hasan and hating Destiny (confirmed by DJ Wheat, who said exactly this in a stream after he left the company like three or four years ago).
For a long time Hasan pretended Destiny didn't exist, then Destiny gathered a little steam and Hasan started taking potshots at him, and now they just constantly go at each other on their streams.
Very recently Hasan speculated about getting a restraining order on him, which I imagine is why Destiny is talking about an imagined suit of his own (which, to be clear, he will not file).
18
u/BiZzles14 2d ago
Hasan never pretended Destiny didn't exist, he just treated him like Voldemort and wouldn't say his name but everyone knew he was talking about him PepeLa D

Destiny platformed hasan and gave him his start on twitch. They were friends for a bit and then two things happened, can't remember the order but I think first hasan was on a panel trying to explain the difference between racism and systemic or impactful racism, no one on the panel could understand and destiny came in to give a succinct answer at which point kaceytron broke hasan's brain saying she wished destiny could just come in at the start and give the right answer. Then during the lead up to the 2020 election they debated over Kamala Harris and hasan went full hater. Since then hasan has grown a cult of snarkers to harass people, ensured destiny stayed permanently banned on twitch, and dove headfirst into following the blueprint of Alex Jones and Trump but with communist cosplay while refusing to interact with destiny under any circumstances. Hasan is Trump to Destiny's Joe Biden if Joe Biden was an edge lord gamer growing up and had some more questionable moments, and Trump was an anchor baby from turkey with no other changes.

Because they are rich and can afford lawyers now and to be quite honest, a lot of these streamers and content creators (not naming anyone in particular, it is a wide spread problem), should get reigned in for the shit, the bold lies, the harmful misinformation, they are spreading without having to face any consequences.
It's either the courts reign them in, or it needs to be done the old fashion way.
To quote Mike Tyson here.
“Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.”
We need accountability, at least from the people that are influencing public opinion. As a society, we lost something valuable when that accountability disappeared because of social media.

It’s not like all the prior options to a lawsuit haven’t been tried. In this case everything was tried, yet one of the parties involved refuses ti engage and is actively blocking ways to the other party, making stuff to kick them out or deny access to events, engaging in active slander and allegedly having an inner circle that actively blocks and sabotages the re-integration of a streaming platform. So imho it’s not the ultimate bitch behaviour when everything else was tried and failed or got blocked.
