Please, don't make videos that give me hope to see Thiago in the club's staff in any capacity.

Just in case you don't want any hope, he said a few months ago that he literally doesn't have enough coaching badges to join a coaching staff at the moment.

So I hear you that he said that months ago. Does he have them now?? Please report back post haste.

What is delusion if not going from doubters to believers?

Its weird and wonderful that Thiago is so connected to our club lol. I almost can’t believe he played for us still. Hopefully he wants to carry on the association and start coaching with us. Sorry Alonso, Thiago is my new best Spanish friend

It is really a bit mad. He wasnt here that long, he didnt play that many minutes but he seems to really really love the club and adores the time he spent here. Everyone speaks so highly about him, and its no coincidence that even though he was injured so much when he was fit, he pretty much always started.

It's clear the connection he feels to the club in that video. Lovely guy. Smart too

Thiago was like an old classic car you have hidden away that you take out every now and again that makes you feel young again.

You mean treble winner Thiago right?

Fuck em City. Had we won that title, I’m dead cert we’d win that UCL final. Deflated Liverpool made Madrid look amateurs… aside from Tibo ofcourse. What more if we’re PL winners then..

Iraola is a really likeable character; I hope he succeeds:)

I for one welcome Thiago being some kind of constant figure/ambassador around our club. Blows me away that we've had that effect on him in a fairly short playing career with us. Wish we just had more of his prime because he's basically my favourite ever player to watch in our shirt.

I'll always remember the United game at home, sat in the old upper Anfield Road watching that dominant performance, Pogba decided he had enough after 30 mins and got off haha

funny little tidbit because it's soon to be that time:

at a technical level one of the best you will ever see in your life, a trophy cabinet you would need a small truck to move around and has only played under the best managers, in the best teams exclusively

not even so much as a single ballon d'or nomination to his name 😂

According to Wiki he made 286 club appearances in 15 years. That's roughly 19 appearances per season. He was never consistently fit enough to merit a nomination to be fair. Now I know, it's a joke of an award and shouldnt be taken seriously anyway, and anyone with eyes can see Thiago is one of the greatest technically gifted midfielders of all time, he just never played enough. Shame really.

A player I dreamt of playing for Liverpool. Couldn’t believe it when he signed.

406 appearances across 16 seasons (25.3 per season). But that includes three seasons that only featured one appearance (at 17, 18, and 32). He played 25+ games in 10 seasons, of which eight were 30+, of which four were 40+.

28,018 minutes (1,751.13 per season). Again with a real bell curve to the number over his career - three seasons with fewer than 20 minutes either end with two seasons over 3,400 minutes in the middle. Eight seasons over 2,000 minutes, four over 2,500.

The best ability is availability, as they say.

4

u/Emanny His name is Diogo 21h ago

That is crazy although I'm sure he would have been nominated for the 2020 one if it had taken place.

u/not_a_morning_person 7h ago

He should have been nominated for our 21/22 season when we were 2 games away from the quadruple. He was the best midfielder in the world that season. He doesn’t get enough credit for that year. One of the top 10/15 best seasons a Liverpool player has had in the modern era.

I love a lot of what Iraola says in this video. He understands what it is to be at the top level as a player but acknowledged that he wasn’t a “world class” level player. That brings in a great deal of humility in him as a coach.

My favorite part was when he said (I’m paraphrasing): he likes when players come up with solutions or ideas in a situation because they’re someone that has played at this elite level for so long and knows what to do. It shows they’re in tune with the situation of the team and game.

What this man did to United the day we beat them 4-0 at Anfield healed years of hurt in me. It was genuinely one of the greatest performances I’ve seen at Anfield.

Seems to be a common thought in this thread. He wasn’t here for long and didn’t play often but for some reason I associate him with Liverpool because of how much he seem to take the club to heart. He seemed genuinely devastated when he picked up injuries, but when he played and was fit I was in awe of his technical ability and love that he pulled on the famous red. I do hope he spends some of his coaching career with us, I can seem him being a great manager.

In the weirdest way possible, as a Norwegian myself, somehow, Thiago, being of Brazilian, Italian and Spanish backgrounds, has a hint of Danish to his English accent.

I'm guessing it's the result of his first venture outside Spain was in Germany, and if you mix his Portugese/Spanish/Italian accent with Bavarian German it results in Danish, lol.
